The bill has landed on the governor's desk- the question is will he veto or sign?

If he wants to be a viable presidential candidate, he has to veto it, many believe he is already damaged goods and doesn't have a chance.

Let's see what he does.

He'll probably load it up with ketchup and eat it.

adwjc I agree with what you are saying, but from what I have seen/read we seem to get out numbered when the ballots are counted.

TexasArmed - the disease of the anti's spreads like cancer. Don't rule out Texas being affected soon too. I hope it doesn't happen here either but who knows...

10 rounds is equivalent to a New York Backup of two J-frame revolvers. That's not really a hardship.

In one sense, it's not really a hardship, since in most self-defense situations, the average number of rounds expended is two or less. Personally, I've owned handguns for over 40 years now, and I've never had to use one to defend myself (and I pray that continues to be the case.) For any normal purpose, ten rounds should be more than adequate. Many people carry handguns whose standard capacity is 10 rounds or less by design (1911s, S&W Shield, 3913, P239, and so on.)

On the other hand, these laws don't accomplish anything except to inconvenience law abiding citizens and to erode our freedom. I would be dumbfounded if there was ever even one criminal or psychopath who decided "well, heck, if I can only have 10 round magazines, it's just not worth me committing mayhem anymore." A criminal or nut can do essentially the same damage with three 10-round magazines, as he can with two 15-round magazines. Even a new shooter can change a magazine in mere seconds.

I wish our lawmakers would address meaningful and effective solutions to our problems, instead of "feel good" things that have no chance of solving the problems we have.

Exactly right. But the majority responds positively to their feel-good silliness (you even see it "considered" here sometimes) so it seems hopeless. Anyone that doesn't understand what you just said about magazines and how long it takes to replace one simply doesn't know enough about firearms to help solve the problem.

In any case, it is a "people" problem - not a "weapons" problem.

I will be astonished if Christie doesn't sign the bill since I have never seen him express even the slightest interest in personal liberty. He is not wired for that.

Make a guess at how many MILLION .22 LR pump, tube fed, rifles will become instantly ILLEGAL............maybe time to start checking NJ for sale advertisements!!!!

Having not read the legislation, this is a sincere question: does the bill address only detachable magazines, like those used in handguns, and not those fixed in place as you reference?

Some laws I've read specifically list "tube feed" and I'm sure the anti's will try to include anything they can even suggesting a "tube" such as my Remington Nylon Model 66 - feeds through the butt of the stock into a (ssshhhhh) tube.

The proposed NJ legislation that is sitting on Gov. Christy's desk exempts many tube fed rifles. I'm not sure if it exempts tube fed that are semi-automatic. Pumps, bolts and levers are exempted from my reading of the proposed bill.

You act as though that's not their actual purpose.

I've NEVER seen a "movement" anti-gunner who didn't hate the average non-criminal gun owner FAR more than Cho Sung Hui, MS-13 gang members, or Ayman al Zawahiri for that matter.

I carry 15 rounds in my revolvers. 5 or 6 rounds depending on what gun I am carrying and,10 in my pocket of revolver ammo. .38 or.45auto rim

The bill has been vetoed by Chris Christie. He knew signing it would end his presidential ambitions. However, I have a feeling that if he already had the nomination, he'd have signed it in a second.

Of course he would have. I doubt it would have ended his run however. People somehow forget that Romney extended the Mass AWB. And W said he would have signed a permanent AWB as well if would have made it to his desk.

Personally, I never liked him much and trustedhim less--but id rather Chattanooga Phil run for office instead. :-))

That guy will never get in the white house if my vote counts for anything.

Present guy is on golf course every day.
This guy would spend 4 years in the kitchen.

He's an obnoxious man. But which politicians aren't, I wonder.
