No. Just no. I am not going to try this.

Oh dear. I just saw a YouTube video in which "Kentucky Ballistics" tested a 10 gauge SxS coach gun. The slug loads are 1.75 oz. My recollection is that 00 buck is 15 pellets; might be 18. The likely increase in felt recoil over a 12 gauge must be epic.

I am sure it would be effective. I can't see a point in one for me as I will never be walking about on Kodiak island. I'm just too old and bashed up for that much bark to be attractive.

I picked up a H&R 10 ga single shot slug gun about 18 months ago. Surprisingly accurate with its rifled sights. But WARNING , do not shoot bowling pins. It destroys them.

Well years back Ithaca mad a 10 gauge called the road blocker. It was a semi auto that weight more than 10 pounds and if I remember correctly the recoil was considered severe.

Now thats for a semi, I would think a fixed breach gun would surpass that (severe) easy.

Add to the fact its heavy unless your out hunting armored cars or bulldozers its not something I would want to lug around or fire!

I once watched a Texas Ranger put 3 from an Ithica Road Blocker into a pickup running from the Boarder Patrol! Just South of Harlingen, Texas! at about 85 yards Bang!, Bang!, Bang! The hood flew in the air, and the pickup coasted to a stop. The 3 Mexican drug runners were dead in the seat!

When I was much, much younger I bought an H&R 10 guage at a pawn shop for 70 bucks. I fired most of a box of shells, then sold it for 75!

A buddy of mine has his Dad's German made (I don't recall the maker, and he's moved out of state now) 10 ga, double barrel shotgun. He told me the story where his neighbor called him up saying "Bring the 10 ga over here and get rid of these dad blamed starlings!"

In the Fall around here they swarm an area by the hundreds and make a terrific racket. Poop rains down from above like real rain.

Walt said he walked out towards the tree line and field edge where they were congregated. As a group they all lifted off at once. He let go with both barrels into the swarm, and they counted 46 dead birds on the ground afterwards.

I fired it one time with just one barrel, and I had enough. Can't imagine firing both together.

I still have a H&R 10 gauge single shot in my gun cabinet. Turkey hunted with it some. It is heavy and cumbersome but I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of it. These days 410s and 20 gauge shotguns with those astronomically priced tungsten shot shells are all the rage!

WOO-EE!!!! Don't mess with Texas!!

My late hubby was a big fan of the 10ga. He had an Italian O/U and 2 Brownings, pump & semi-auto. His favorite hunt was the late season high flying Giant Canadians. Seldom he came home empty handed.
