I am not the first to say this, but S&W will surely give in to consumer demand if we all keep voicing our opinion on this matter.

They should offer lock and no lock options on all their revolvers so that they can appeal to everyone who wants to buy S&W firearms.

If they offer a no lock revolver it gives me an excuse to buy what I have with the lock all over again with no lock. Lock or no lock if it's in the world famous S&W nickel finish the plastic comes out anyway.

If they offered a no lock option, they wouldn't sell any of the guns with locks.

Not necessarily true. A person buying a gun for home protection
with young children might want the gun with the lock for extra
protection against the kids firing it.
I know...it shouldn't be left lying around, but it might be appealing to some who aren't collectors.

An excellent point. I am still old and crusty but you are right, some would want it for that very reason. But having the choice would be great but it ain't going to happen. And S&W seems to be selling just fine.

No To Locks

I have a "No-Lock" 642CT in transit, that should be here in less than a week. This is precisely why I passed on a local purchase of a 642CT. I refuse to have the internal/:eek:eternal:eek: lock on any of my guns.

To me, a locked gun is no different than one locked in the safe. I'd rather have the gun "available" rather than fumbling with a lock, whether it be the lock on the safe or the lock on the gun. In a situation when I need a gun, I want it ready.

I prefer the NL based on aesthetics as well as efficiencies.

If I were concerned about children's safety, I'd prefer to lock the gun in a small safe than have it be locked by the IL -- which I cannot visually check for on/off [on some Centennials] and which requires something very easy to lose -- the small key. Which is why some people will keep the small key with the gun... which defeats any security at all. Ditch the IL; S&W makes many handguns without an IL. Ditch the IL, and S&W revolver sales will surge 25% that year...
