I have someone who is going to sell me a non-pinned barrel model 63. He says that there isn't a hammer block safety installed in the gun. Does that sound right to y'all?

Yes. It will fire without it. It may also fire if dropped or struck on the hammer.

That ought to be worth a considerable reduction in the price of the gun. At any rate, if so, you'll have to have it fixed if you buy it.

A hammer block is listed on Numrich's site as $9.55, so with shipping, about $15.00 & five minutes to replace.

Rolan,

If you hold the revolver by your ear and shake it, you should be able to hear it rattle, if it is still there.

Make it sure it's unloaded first!

Rolan, cock it and look down inside for it, it will look like a little block of metal. If you need one E-mail me.

I too suspect the seller meant the "safety lock" or internal lock, not the hammer block.
