I never have understood all the trash talk about the XSE's:

Here's a few of mine:
Mausers: From top to bottom: Cone hammer with rear sight labeled Mauser Cartridge 303. Large ring hammer slab side (commercial, not one from the Italian Navy Contract). Weimar Republic rework in 9mm P. Six shot marked VL&D (at one time ammo was available loaded onto 6 shot strippers). French Gendarmerie, post WW I. Reichsrevolver M 79, one of about 3500 made by Mauser. 9mm Solid frame zig-zag. M 1934 in 32 ACP, Astra. ETA1. M 1910.
Colts: M 1911 with M 1912 holster. Slightly tweaked Series 70 in 45 ACP. M 1917 in 45 ACP. M 1909 in 45 Colt variation with thicker rim. M 1903 in 38 Long Colt. Colt Commando, 2 inch barrel. Banker's Special in 22 LR. 32 automatic marked US PROPERTY, sent to Britain in WW II. SAA with 4 1/2 inch barrel in 38-40 caliber.
French Pistols: M 1874, 11mm caliber. M 1892, 8mm caliber. M 1935A, pre war manufacture, in 7.65mm Long. M 1935S made by SAGEM, in 7.65 Long. MAC 50, 9 mm P. MAB R in 9mm P. Le Français type Poche, cal 6.35mm. Le Français type Policeman. Unique Mikros in 6.35. P 38 marked svw 46, assembled from parts under French occupation; this one was transfered to Austria and is marked BH as well as having the modified safety (I don't know who is responsible for the wooden grips). HSc also asembled from parts under French occupation, probably for commercial sale as it doesn't have the lanyard loop of the police models.
Iver Johnsons: Model 57 target. Model 1878 revolver with swing out cylinder. It pivots on a pin at the front of the ejector rod. Should have been very successful but are quite rare. The top breaks all have the same mechanism, but were available in four calibers, blued or nickeled, and a bewildering range of barrel lengths and grip styles. The knuckle duster shown was atually patented as a device for stabilizing the grasp of the pistol. It's called the Bourne Knuckelduster. The auto pistols ae a Pony in 380, a Compact in 25 ACP (actually made from Bernadelli parts on a new frame), and a TP in 22 (copy of the Walther TPH).
Miscellaneous: Glock 19. Glock 36, a single stack 45 ACP. Aubron Ainé et Fils percussion with ratchet rifling. Feinwerkbau M 65, a lot more accurate than I am. The Colt SAA again for some reason. M 1906 American Eagle luger in 30 luger caliber. CZ 52. The little folding trigger revolver is a Clement in 22 short and I have fired it. M8, 37mm US service flare pistol made by the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company in WW II (Anyone know where I can get flares for it?). Webley Mk VI revolver in .455 caliber. Enfield No 2 Mk 1 revolver in 38/200 caliber, dated 1936. Chicom Tokarev that my former boss took fom the body of an NVA lieutenant after an arc light strike in the Parrot's Beak area. Llama 380. Browning M 1900. Liberator.

Hey Medic,
I also like my Government XSE Lightweight.

My favorite is a XSET:

Medic,
I am more a 5" barrel guy. Not that there is anything wrong with a 4 1/4" Commander.
Here is my Government XSE in brushed stainless steel (note the full pony on the slide):

And a Gold Cup Trophy with Combat Elite grips:

I blame S&W (the best revolver trigger action) and Colt for making my retirement plan less than it needs to be.
And Roll Tide!![]()
