Who else has dumped other platforms for the M&P

Sold my Glock 17 to get the M&P 9.

Still keep my HKs, Sig, CZ, & 1911's.

I picked up a 40c and a 357c both this year but I won't be dumping a thing. Everything I own is S&W so I don't have anything to part with!

These are my 1st polymer guns and I like 'em just fine.

Why didn't you just buy a .357 Sig Barrel and use the money to buy a different M&P

I have a full size M&P 45 which I like, and it carries well in a Crossbreed IWB holster. I have found that the Glock 32 which I have carried is the right combination of compact size, round capacity, and carry comfort in a Crossbreed or Milt Sparks Summer Special holster, IMHO.

Sold my Kahr PM9 for a Sig P290rs, and then bought a Shield. Both are in my carry rotation. Don't regret selling the Kahr. While it was very light and reliable, I have had issues with the company and their customer service. Carry the Shield more often than the others.

This is NOT my picture, but it shows the Shield compared to the Kahr. The difference is hardly noticable with a good IWB holster.

Sorry guys, bought a Shield, shoots great just not for me, getting rid of the Shield going to carry my Talon II bobtail / Ed Brown EC/Dan Wesson Guardian: real steel no plastic.

I sold an xd9sc that I loved to buy a Shield .40, and traded my xd40sc for an M&P40 fs for competition. I have officially become an m&p addict. Looking to add the 40c and an m&p revolver to the rotation. Maybe someday I'll have the wallet to get an M&P15 and 15-22.

I haven't dumped other platforms, but I am primarily sticking to Glocks and M&Ps from now on. It's easier to train with one style of trigger.

Gonna be honest, I got rid of my M&P's and went with a Glock 19.


I had a Fullsize 40 with 9 barrel, and a Shield for carry. I ended up getting the best of both some what.

Love the size of a G19, granted the SD9VE has similar dimensions. I also wanted to have spare parts on hand rather than sending a product in for warranty.

I went in the opposite direction. Glock's failure to recognize and fix the brass to the face issue really turned me off. S&W has been listening to the consumer, which is why you see the 9mms with new barrels and the trigger fix. The one knock is lack of mags and that won't be forever. Smith spare parts can be had, not sure why you'd need to use your warranty, but all the power to you, I admittedly shoot Glocks as well as I do M&Ps, but prefer the ergos of the Smith by a large margin.

I've been carrying a 9 shield for a few months, and recently sold off a much sought after (I'm in mass) gen 3 g17 with a bunch of preban mags so that I can get a M&P 45 midsize (which apparently is also much sought after). The G17 just didn't fit my hand, and in fact, I shoot the shield much better. Maybe I'll pick up a 9FS or 9c while I wait for the 45mid to make it's appearance.

I bought my first M&P, a 45c variant a little over a month ago and have been so impressed with it, I bought another. Followed by two 9c's and a 9F! I sold off a Glock 19, G27, G30SF & G31 in a purge to replace Glocks for M&P's.

That's very odd, usually people move from DA/SA to striker fired. Pretty much every instructor I can think of recommends striker fired, they tend to be easier tools to use for people which ends up equating to improved performance according to hits on target & the timer.

Nothing odd about it and most instructors I know think you should be familiar with all action types.Now if I go back to something other than a DA/SA it will be to one of my 1911s.The reason people like striker fired pistols is that they are for lack of better words too lazy to practice the DA/SA transition and master the DA pull.To quote Ernest Langdon Fear Not The Double Action.And the Military must agree because the main issued side arms are DA/SA Berettas and Sigs.

I had a pretty good mix of pistols from other brands, G26, Sig P238, RIA 1911, XDm 3.8. I sold and traded off all of those and became a S&W whore. M&P FS, compact, Shield, BG380, M&P22 and 637-2. Thinking about picking up a 5906 or maybe a 4006 so I can have an all metal non-revolver in my safe again. Go figure my GF pretty much stole my P238 and XDm, which I don't mind because she loves them and wants to go shooting all the time with me now. For now S&W covers all my shooting needs in the handgun department. I will say that I love my Shield 40 and M&P9c more than any other guns I have owned in the past.

I wish S&W made a DA/SA with a decocker M&P for a CCW type semi-auto. I'd buy it. I really like the DA feature for safety reasons on my CCW gun.

Try to find an old SW99 as I believe that is what you ate looking for if I understand correctly, a striker fired pistol that can operate similarly to a DA/SA firearm. Or better yet, a Walther P99AS as it is pretty much the same gun but looks much better IMHO.

Well here is my last update… I can’t drink this Kool-Aid anymore! I finally got rid of the piece of junk M&P FS 9mm that I purchased almost two years ago. After sending the pistol back to S&W multiple times the accuracy issues were never resolved. I am very disappointed that S&W would make such a piece of junk. I have shot off the shelf Glocks, H&K’s, Walther PPQ’s and several others and they would ALL run circles around this gun. I bid the farewell S&W, you just lost a long time S&W fan because of this over rated junk!

The only two pistol's I gave up on was a Bersa thunder 380 & a Colt Mustang pocketlite .380 that I've owned over the yrs. I just recently sold my Bodyguard .380.....I basically dumped .380's...
