I was posting on this site and going from a book shelf next to the PC with loading data, when I scraped the back of my hand on the corner of the PC unit shelf that holds the typewriter unit.

I did not think it was a big thing and as I was at work felt something that made me look at the back of my hand.
There it was.................
a trail of blood almost ready to hit the table top.

I know we need meds when we get old but these darn blood thiners really suck !!

However the mosquitoes love them..................

I'm not on any blood thinners, just a baby aspirin every day, yet I find the same thing.

What I do is immediately put on anti biotic cream and cover the wound with a band aid. In addition to helping the wound heal faster, in the short term it will help to slow the bleeding.

As my friend says, "Getting old is not for the faint of heart."

While I can't prevent getting older, I work hard at not getting "old."

thin skin! couldn't be. but is. full time bump and bleed member, bleed like a donor without much of a bunp :(:(

Yes, for the past ten years or so I bump into something and one of two outcomes occurs. Either I notice that my flesh is torn and I am bleeding, or I find a large angry looking bruise. My skin is like tissue paper these days, no resistance to any bump or abrasion.

This condition seems to come in conjunction with arthritis pain, nerve pain, sleeping problems, cataracts, and other symptoms. All the stupid stuff I did 50 years ago is coming back at me on a regular basis.

I wish I had stuck it out and graduated from barber college, back in the day. Maybe I would be smart enough to understand all this stuff now.

Is it time to take my medication again? I have to keep that straight, for sure.

I so identify with the bleeding so easily condition. Some times I wake up and find I have been bleed during the night

I keep forgetting to take my memory medicine!
I have trouble trying to remember why there is a string tied around my finger.
My doctor asked me how my memory was doing. I told her that I was making a lot of lists lately.

I've got so many chemicals inside my body now, the undertaker's going to need a HazMat suit to work on my sorry carcass. It won't be an embalming, it'll be a brownfield cleanup. Cemetery's going to have to file an environmental impact statement to bury me.

Would be nice if I could stand up without sound effects.

Same here.

I give it a quick wash, dry it, then seal it with Super Glue.
Works (almost) instantly.
I have heard of people using super glue on small incisions but never thought much about it. A month ago I had a hernia surgery that I'd been putting off for 10+ years, but it got too uncomfortable. Surgeon cut about a 4-5 inch slit, did his work, and closed the incision with super glue. After abut 10 days the super glue came off and you can hardly see the scar. Incidentally, had the other side done yesterday, same procedure and incision closed with super glue. BTW, super glue was my least problem, the pain is almost unbearable, seems like every muscle in my body is tied into this area, ha.

Almost the same thing happened to me. I was going out the door and
felt a sharp pain on the top of my right hand. When I got in the car, I
couldn't help but notice I was bleeding like a stuck hog. I'm also on a
blood thinner. When back inside and put a little anti-biotic ointment on
it and bound it up. It was right on top of one of those big veins in the
back of the hand. I change dressing every day, and now about a week
later, it looks like it's healed. BTW I know I'm old. 86

I'm 78 and still working around the house I'm not as flexible anymore and bump around, drop a hammer on myself, stab myself with a screwdriver. I don't notice the outcome of this until the end of the day when I see the red skin or blood or bumps. Fortunetly I have above average platelet count and don't bleed to much.

Couple the @#$%^ scrapes with the bruises from who-knows-where, along with the basal cell carcinoma extractions (gleefully removed by any number of dermatologists), and don't get me started about the friggin' fiber thing, and what do you have?

A geezer in training! Ain't quite there, but I'm workin' on it.......
