Due to the low price and rebate, I am now the owner of a BG. I hope to get it out to the range next week.
Many of us S&W fans have had our BG380's for a while and those of you that bought them with the built in laser, are you sorry you choose that option? The reliability is poor. Never comes on when you want to use it,
batteries dead or poor contact, laser beam off POI, or poor beam intensity. Also I haven't even touched on the subject of: Laser mtg. screw coming loose, backing out , catching on the slide etc.
After a session at the range, you must remove the unit to clean your gun. (According to S&W instructions) In my opinion, the laser is more of a hindrance than an aid! I suggest to anyone considering the purchase of a BG380, get it in the no laser version! If you want one later, you can get the add on model.
One question for those that have it. Is it a locked breech? Right now I have a Kel Tec ..380 and their
32 the .32 is locked the .380 is not.
Likewise for me! I removed the laser and plugged the frame holes to keep out the dirt. I shoot it quite often at the LGS&IR. It is like a pocket-hand cannon, but still very manageable.I've had my Bodyguard .380 for about 5 years now. The laser is a waste, for me. If I get another one (maybe if a V.20 comes out) it'll be without it. Otherwise, I love it.
I have a shield and i might carry the BG more especially around the house.
