Went to the NRA convention in Pittsburgh yesterday - All I can say is wow! I stopped by the S&W booth and asked them about the model 43C. The gentleman said they just made a shipment to the distributors and they should be available as we speak. When I asked if they would be in continuous production, he said no, that this was a run they made of a grand total of 200. Let me see, they shipped 200 across the country to satisfy the folks who really wanted one. Am I the only one who sees this as a joke? He said that the problem was that it is an aluminum frame pistol. Did I really look that stupid for him to think that I was going to buy that as a legitimate excuse? As usual, BS prevails!

I hope this isn't true, and you just spoke with an uninformed rep.

I don't get your take on it... what makes his response BS... do you have inside info that he doesn't have.... crystal ball... or some other source of info... ;) What makes you think he thought you look stupid? :)

Perhaps it was the

He said that the problem was that it is an aluminum frame pistol.

If the rep said that, I'd pretty much call BS too. Last I checked. S&W has sold just a couple of aluminum framed guns....and I believe they've been received pretty well.

That is really funny! I just telephoned S&W last week and spoke to the S&W sales department concerning the 43 C. He put me on hold for about 5 minutes then came back and informed me that he did not know when they will produce them! He told me to just stand by!!

I was there too and was told it was 100 shipped to distributors late this past week, making delivery to dealers this week sometime. We'll see I guess....

More BS - What did I expect!

I was told 200 and Sonny was told 100. You think they could at least get their phony stories straight! Almost makes me want to look at a Taurus - OK, I couldn't do that with a straight face.

Anyone heard anything new on the 43c? I bid on one but didn't get it. So far it is the only one I've found for sale.

I've been checking 4 distributors for the last 17 months and have not seen a 43C listed at all. I have a M351C that functions flawlessly, so stating that the M43 won't work is BS. They might ship, eventually and I will post if I ever see any, just as soon as I order mine. Bob!!

I spoke with customer service this week and there have been a few shipped. Lipsey's was shipped 12. However the rep said that it will be sept before there are greater numbers. So many conflicting stories. I just hope they make some soon.

I don't think anyone has purposely passed on false info. I deal in an industry where the parts I need are for a small number of potential customers, consequently my parts are always put on the back burner. When production has a choice between setting up for a run of 5000 pieces or setting up for 200 pieces, I think economics kicks in and we know what happens.... I've passed on to my customers what my vendors told me, when it turns out wrong, they think I was BSing... but the reality, BSing wouldn't do me any good any more than it would do a rep from S&W.... so, we just need to be patient, the guns will be available when they can get them done... heck, the BG380 is so backed up I can't imagine how they find the time to build so many other models, the Governor line is flat out, the MP lines are flat out... and so many other popular guns... hang in guys...

I just spoke with my salesman at Lipsey's. They did, in fact, get the twelve mentioned previously. They're gone already. Like he said, when you have 23 salespeople, 12 guns don't go far. I put my name on his short list. We'll see! Bob!

It's always been my understanding that S&W builds revolvers to fill orders. They don't warehouse large lots at the factory. It's entirely possible that, for instance, RSR ordered 100 and Horton another 100, so they produced a total of 200.

The 43C saga continues

Here is the question I posed to S&W customer service on Wednesday, July 27, "Hey, is this gun going to be made, not made, run in tiny batches? Awesome gun, seems to be a no brainer. thx, Rob."

Here is what I got back from S&W customer service rep, Robert, on July 29 in response to my question:
Hello, Current production is scheduled for late September and will continue through the year.
Thank You

What this means is anybody's guess...

No lock on this gun.

What it means is they'll be made when they get to them... no saga there... did you order one yet?

The 43C saga continues

Just passing along what S&W told me. I'll stick with my saga claim or possibly go with soap opera, mini series, made for TV movie, or pay per view. It has been a source of chatter for over a year complete with contradictions, initiated production, and ceased production, with claims of nothing more and a restart in production. Hope you are right and that it is a matter of when...yes, trying to buy one. Still committed to getting one and I hope this story, or whatever, has a happy ending.:)
