Got a mailer today where I can upgrade from Life to Endowment for $200. Is it worth it? What are the additional benefits over a Life membership?

Upgrading membership

I have upgraded twice in the last three years and am now a benefactor member. I think from what I hear from the pols on the TV They will need all the cash they can get to beat the crazies back. I consider it cheap insurance to keep what I have, I hope you think hard and either way they will fight the good fight to keep you in the game. Jeff

I went from Life to Benefactor in three steps (Endowment, then Patron, then Benefactor). Cost me $300 each time, so I think the $200 they're offering is a good deal. Personal pride is about the only thing it brings you, but I do like having that Benefactor sticker on my gun box, even though I suspect the average guy at the range doesn't really know what it means.

I went from Life to Patron in a couple steps.

I went life over 50 years ago after being annual for a few years. First joined as a JR way back when you had to affirm you were a good person and had to have a person of good character affirm that. ( I got a neighbor that was a Police Sergeant sign my appo) You older NRA members remember doing that?

To be perfectly honest here I did it way back then because of the American Rifleman magazine. I did some quick math and after so many years I basically got that magazine for free by being life. Again with the honesty bit, back then the magazine was bigger and you got 12 a year.

Then a few years ago I got an offer to upgrade and my conscience said to me "go for it" I did and then a few years later went patron.

When I upgraded to Endowment, the wife didn't notice any change.

Any change in what?

I was a Jr. member all during HS as I was on the HS Rifle Team and we shot NRA Postal Matches. I then was a yearly member until I turned 21 and I went for the Life Membership at five payments of $25 ea. That was pretty pricey for me as I was still in College. I then paid full pop for the Endowment Membership about 20 years ago. I have never been offered any reduced price to go Benefactor, so I probably won't. .........

I got the mailer, too. Definitely a good deal since dues are going up 1/1/16 for all levels. I'm contemplating biting the bullet and sending the whole $200 in or breaking it up in the $25 payments. Either way, it's a good deal and the backpack they're offering this time around seems nice, too.
