Well, NY Governor Cuomo was speaking on a radio talk show today and agreed with the host that confiscation of firearms is an option. He cited forced "sale" of weapons to the government as a type of confiscation and lauded it as a viable option...

Well, if he's got registration, he's got the first necessary element. I hope with all my heart that this is shot down as quickly as possible. :(

Well the man has gotten a bunch of "What"/They can really do that" kind of laws/restrictions on the books. If it can happen, NY and CA would be the first places that it can. I know a ton of people that would not like such a plan; it would put a strain on the state that would be interesting to see how it would work itself out. I cant speak about the current "average person" in NY anymore as I moved away long ago; but at that time, Most folks I knew were hunters. Shotguns ruled the roost and a good 22 for squirrels and pest was the norm. Some folks had a deer rifle, 30-30 or 30-06 for going for the deer in the northern zone. Out of all the people I bumped into, most did not own an "assult rifle" and many people did not have a handgun. One would say when I moved to GA, and visited many states, my eyes were opened to the would of gunshows, buying what you wanted, when you wanted, and the mindset of carrry as the norm--- not the rairity from my past. I guess the moral of the story is to resist all new rules and regs. If you give an inch----- they will take a mile.

One good thing to come out of this for the rest of the country is that as a result of his comments and legislative agenda to ban, confiscate, and register, Cuomo will never become president of the united states. Unfortunately i live here and will bear the brunt of his continued assault on the second amendment. The legislature here is a joke and usually justs accedes to whatever the governor wants.

Cuomo has gotten NOTHING on the books in his time in office regarding guns, and in fact, the dumb COBIS Law(fired cartridge entered into database), has been discontinued.
He's not walking over anyone.
The AWB in NY(mirroring the federal ban, but not sunsetting) was signed under a Republican governor.

talk to me about it again after his state of the union address on 1/9/13. he has a complete legislative package on gun control that he will have ready to go. As he has proved in the last year he will attempt to bulldoze the legislature to get his way. this time he doesnt have a republican majority in the state senate to contend with. he has a state senate with republicans nominally in charge only because 5 independant democrats caucus with them. a situation which Cuomo will be able to manipulate and which he has already noted will be his strategy for other legislative agenda such as minimum wage, public financing of campaigns and other campaign finance reforms which he wants passed. He has every intention of walking over whoever he has to to be in the forefront of whatever he thinks will help him get the democratic nomination for president be it gun bans, confiscation or registrations of rifles. He has said so in his own words in numerous interviews now.

Oh, excuse me, I thought I was talking about what he's DONE. A SOTU is a speech, it's not legislation. Forgive me if I don't panic.

FYI, the Republicans sold us out before, not the democrats.

Many men have died defending our freedom. We owe them no less than to continue to defend our freedom and the fredom of the next generation. Like the man said, at some point, you have to stand for something. Our second ammendment was written for a good reason. Look at Rawanda, Germany during WW2, what the Taliban have done to innocent civilans and countless other examples of people destroyed because they did not have the means to protect themselves. Just the hunters alone in the US far out number any army in the world (by a lot) so no one can take our rights away from us unless we are willing to roll over, I have lived a free life too long to change now and I will not give up my guns no matter what some worthless politicion thinks. I hope it never comes to it....but sometimes freedom needs to be defended and it never has been free as anyone that has served can attest to.

where do you get i am panicking from what i am saying? im posting what he is saying is his intent.
this is new york, both sides have a long history of selling us out. this is shaping up to be another of those times.

Andrew Cuomo has his eyes set on the White House too. It's not just a 'NY problem'.
Don't ever forget he was a major influence, if not author, of the Fed AWB of 1994 as then Sec. of HUD under Pres Clinton.
These people's intentions are perfectly clear and have been for a long time.
