Here lately I've been obsessed with locating more and more ammo for my 15-22. It's almost like I get a high when I actually find some. I hit the jackpot today at Walmart when I lucked up on 3 boxes of 550 count Federal. It was a total rush. Anybody else have this addiction?

I know exactly what you mean. I developed a skill for finding ammo and it is hard to stop using that skill. There is a rush when you find it and get to it before thousands of other people. I stopped buying two weeks ago and I think I'm done for a long while. I can think of lots of worse addictions though...

I just keep plugging away. Manage to score on average about a brick a week. Keeps me and my friends shooting.

That was a score! I can't find anything like that around here.

i have the same problem. maybe there should be a class for this. i just picked up my 2100 rounds from cabelas that i ordered 2 weeks ago. maybe an "ammo buyers anonymous" class is in order.:D

Actually the first time in a while I've come across a find like that at Walmart. It was so great walking out of there with my heavy double bagged SCORE!!!

Don't need or want it enough to pay those kind of prices. Ouch! $24.95 each box at Walmart today.

$60-$80 a brick!?! That's what happens when old retired guys troll the Wal-Mart's and Cabela's very single day. I hear it all the time from the clerks. They have nothing better to do so they snag all of the ammo from everyone else, then turn around and sell it for a profit. Not only are they hurting everyone else by hoarding, but they're falsely driving up prices locally. I'd rather not shoot than support these idiots.

If you think you get a rush finding 22 ammo, try getting some 17m2 ammo.  I finally got some today! I am extremely happy.:) I was able to get 1500 rounds from 2 different suppliers. I was beginning to think I was going to have to sell my rifle. I didn't even shoot it last year. I used 22 ammo to squirrel hunt with last year.

I am an old retired guy and know and shoot with many others and I think you might be a little off base here bub...but you do have the right to your opinion...I just don't agree with it...I wish you luck in you quest for ammo...:)

Addiction? No! I'm doing it for the children! Really I am! My daughters will be home hopefully for Easter They've asked their mother to cook plenty of chicken and dumplings and they've asked me to take them shooting. I'm laying in the ammo. They'll do the shooting and I'll load magazines.

I've been able to shoot through one brick of federal this month. I've bought thousands of rounds.

When the weather breaks we'll see if it was an addiction or just good planning.

Yes, I'm getting up at 4:45 am in the morning to be at my Walmart for 3 boxes of Federal 550 .22

I too am one of those old guys but do not waste my time walking isles in Walmart I spend time shooting some of the ammo I paid sixty cents a box for...still have 25 or 30 thousand to go before the trolling begins. And I called it "being prepared" not hoarding. Did the same with other calibers.

Hey, not all old retired guys troll Wal-Marts and I have no idea where the closest Cabelas is. :p What we have around here locally is a group of guys that wait for Acadamy to open on Wednesday morning, snag all the .22 they can, take it to their own gun store, mark it up and sell out by Thursday. Believe me, that's probably more common than you think it is.

Oh yeah, and some of us old retired guys may be buying .22 for several grandchildren who shoot up out supplies.

This is the darndest thing. While we get loads of ammo from Italy, England, Russia and the Philippines my last couple of purchases were Remington, Winchster and Federal.

CCI it a little harder to get hold of but not THAT hard.

This is one case where I'm better off not living in the USA. I can go to my local gunshop (about 850m away) and purchase as much .22 as I want.
