Ok so I'm standing at work passing time on my phone during a brake and one of the other employees asked me what I was looking for on gunbroker. I told him I was bidding on a 2" model 15. He says he has a 357 snub nose he wants to sell if I was interested. I told him if it's a smith I am always interested. He tells me that he's not really a gun guy he just bought it at a gun show a few years ago as a house gun when he lived in town. He doesn't know what it is or who made it just that its a 357 , it's short and loud. He picks it up over the lunch hour and when he open the case, wow, it's a really nice 66-3 2.5 inch. I was expecting a Rossi or at best a j frame airweight but no, there it sat in all of its round butt k frame stainless glory. A very fast negotiation followed in which he said a number and I sprained my elbow going for my wallet. Let's just say he was as happy to sell it as I was to buy it. Sorry for the bad phone pic it was all I had time to take. After carrying it for a week and shooting the snot out of it i can see why people love them. Need to ditch the Goodyears and put on a pair of altamont ivorys and a t grip, but other than that I'm real happy with it.

I had a fellow worker come to me one time and said he had a house gun that was too big for his wife and wanted to trade for a small one. I told him to bring it out and show it to me and we would try to trade something for it. It turned out to be a model 25-2 in presentation case and I quickly traded him a model 60 for it. Best trade I ever made.

I forgot to mention why it was odd. I work in the meat industry mostly in small locker plants. The initial conversation happened over a dead hog on the kill floor. Sorry fellas I got in a little to big of a hurry to show off the new toy and forgot to mention that in the original post.

Congratulations on your new model 66! It's always nice to hear about a transaction in which both parties walk away thinking they got a great deal.

That's the downside working with cops, they all seem to know what a beautiful piece is worth. Nice grab!

That's pretty much how I bought my Ruger Redhawk 7.5" .44 Mag. I was working night shift and one of my coworkers wanted to sell his to buy a .38 for his wife to use as a house gun.

I second the suggestion of Grashorn stocks.

I've had some offers to sell because of the media indoctrination of guns that get up and shoot people by themselves. I educate them of the real reason they bought one in the first place, and if they still want to sell, I tell them to wait a month to see if they feel the same. They usually dont end up selling it.
I havent been offered a nice SW yet though ;)

You might want to take a look at Altamonts Super Rosewood grips.

I have these on my 66 & nickel 19. But I just ordered a set of checkered bonded ivory with S&W medallions, for my blued 19. They have to be custom made so I'm looking at 2 - 4 weeks to get them. But they do have the smooth bonded ivory if that's what you want.
