OFFICIAL Using Wal-Mart App/Website

Something is rotten in the state of walmart

Had to share my walmart experience yesterday morning. A walmart over an hour away from me started showing 5 boxes of 100 winchester super speeds at about midnight the night before. I made the drive and was the very first person in line when the 7 am shift (which distributes ammo) came in. THe guy tells me they have no .22s. I say its odd that their site would just start showing it for no reason at midnight (it didn't show before that) and ask him to recheck. He disappears in back for 5 minutes, comes out and says he doesn't have any. I go get the store manager and she comes back and actually takes it pretty serious. She has the employee scan the shelf tag for that brand and size ammo, and sure enough, it shows them having 5 boxes. I tell her my suspicions are that some employee is holding out and/or has hidden them. She calls the employy to the side and I hear her say "if you know anything about these you need to tell me right now, this is serious" and the guy swears he doesn't. The manager then goes herself and searches for like 10 minutes....nothing. She apologizes and says she doesn't know whats going on. I give her my card with my phone number and ask her to keep an eye on the computer inventory because I suspect it will mysteriously show up as being sold later in the day. She says if it does she will find out who sold it and where they got it from. Well, this morning- sure enough- it was shown as "sold out". I called the manager to see what happened and she said it never showed up and they just cleared it out because people kept comming in looking for it. My suspicion is that whoever was hiding knew they couldn't sell it to their friend or themselves after all the attention being paid to it, so they either outright stole it or threw it away rather than having it show up as being sold. But of course its all speculation. It is possible it was just an honest inventory error, but it sure seems suspicious. A very similar incident happened 2 weeks ago and on the same day a local gun shop mysteriously came up with the exact same brand and box size that had unexplainable vanished from walmart and the gun shop was selling it for 4.5 times the walmart price. It was their first .22 in weeks.....the same day walmart "lost" the same ammo. I told the manager all this and she seemed interested, but who knows. Anyway, just a story i wanted to share.

WM app

My experience with the WM website/app stock status has been great for scoring 9mm and a complete failure for .22.
My local WM has been showing various .22 ammo as in stock. Even when I show up early in the morning they insist they have none nor have they had any in months. They also insist that they have no ammo squirreled away "in the back".

My trips haven't been completely fruitless. Sunday they had Winchester 100 rd. 9mm packs and they even had 10/22's @ pre-craze prices.

Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I never heard of this app until this thread popped up on a search this morning. I went to my local Walmart this morning around 8:30 looking for any 22LR.......none to be found. I found out about the app from this thread when I got home a little while later, downloaded it, and lo-and-behold! They showed some Remington 50packs in stock. So, I went back, and they had just stocked it in the case. I would have never thought to go check again today, but I'm glad I listened to the app. It's been slim pickings around here, especially for 22LR.(If I'm really lucky, they'll have some left tomorrow so I can get 3 more!):D

Ok so all walmarts around me have been showing out of stock on everything 22lr related for the past week except one store 22 miles away. Calling them is a nuisance I feel.. driving there with crazy gas prices and an suv kinda sucks too. I can get ahold of 50 packs of remington, easily, but my gsg hates them :-( been getting the run around with every Walmart I have contacted. Is this gonna get any easier?

App vs website?

This is for some of you who seem to have a lot of experience with the wal-mart app and web site:
# 1.) Is there any difference between the accuracy/dependability of the app vs the actual walmart web site???? I am the last person on the planet who still doesn't have a smart phone (just a basic cell phone). SO I can't use the app. But I can and do check the walmart site quite often. DO they show the same things?

#2.) On the web site, is there anyway of checking the inventory of all their assorted .22 box sizes and brands at once? I have to click on each individual brand and box size, then click on "check other stores in my area" in order to see whats out there.

thank-you!

Yea pretty much same except app is quicker, but the website will show more stores for each item than the app will at one time.

I just downloaded the walmart app. .22lr showed in stock at 3 stores. I hit all 3 this morning. First store had a whole crapload (couple cases easy) of super X .22's.. I got 3 boxes. Went to next store, scored another 3 boxes. 3rd store also said in stock but nothing was there.. Overall a great experience.

Lucky Me

Went back to the same WM I scored at yesterday "just for s**ts & giggles"......Looked in the case quick and nothing.......wait, what's that?!?! Put my nose up to the glass and there are 3-50 packs of rem subsonics stuck between the shelf and the back of the cabinet! I wonder how many people missed seeing those. They stocked the one case they got around noon yesterday.:)

Put in my zip code 53916 and see how many Walmarts have a single box of anything ....

Ever! :(

Saw they had limited stock of 22 and in stock for 45. Went in and asked and they hadn't had any ammo for 3 days. Seems odd to me

Employees lied to me. No surprise.

Went back just now and saw the cabinet filled. Of course I was 5 min too late for the 22 as I saw a guy carrying it out. Did get some 762 and 9mm

scored 3 555 packs of winchester 22 tonight they got one case of 10 boxes was 3rd in line

Great experience with mine over the past couple of weeks. My store puts what they get out at 7pm. Went tonight and all they had today was .40. I'm not being picky these days.

Also was told something interesting...hoping it's true. Was told that the dept mgr had contact directly with Remington and put in an order just for this store...500 cases for each of the popular cals. Like I said, if this pans out I give this guy credit for going the extra mile to take care of us...though I'm sure it'll be 6 months.

Used it to help a buddy of mine find 9mm tonight in his area.

Honestly from what I can see its no different then checking stock on Walmart.com.

The bar code scanner is nice!

my walmart app shows both federals, 50 for 13.97 and 100 for 21.37 in stock but they told me they dont have any.. it just showed up a few hours ago tho, its driving me nuts

Its probably still on the truck.

Keep checking back, they will put it on the shelves todays sometime I bet.

I just called an hour ago and the lady told me they didn't have any.. but the app said in stock. Now it just updated to OOS..

That's because there is no difference. The app uses the same inventory system as the website. It doesn't make any sense for Walmart to build a completely independent inventory system just for the app. Doing so would cause all sorts of inventory problems.
