OFFICIAL Using Wal-Mart App/Website

Saw on the app this morning one of my local WM had 9mm. Got there at 6:55am rounded the corner at sporting goods and there was a line with over 40 people, mostly husbands and wives. Saturday either you go before the rooster crows or stay home. Looked like the cart had boxes of 555 Win 22 and 50 rd 9mm. Enough for maybe 6-8 people. I bought trail mix and headed to the golf course.

My app showed the nearest had Winchester 555's in stock for three days. I went over there twice, and was given the run around twice by the girl and the manager of the Sporting Goods departments.

Both times I was looking for .22's and walked out with either .40 or 9MM.

I learned my lesson, and no longer trust the App. Either the employees are hoarding it for themselves or friends, or WM's inventory is lousy.

On the bright side, I found two local Big Box sporting goods stores that receive their ammo shipment on Thursday night, so I've been able to find 2000 rounds over the last 2 weeks at a marginal markup price.

Scored with the app once again.

2 1000 round M22's and a box of Win 100 round 9mm.

I could have scored another 1000 round M22, but the guy behind me in line was looking for 22LR as well, decided to share the wealth.

App in showing the closest WM to me having the M22 as "Limited Stock" this evening. I'm was thinking of going in the morning and getting some more, but I really don't need it at the moment.

Hopefully someone who needs it will get it tomorrow morning.

I've used the app several times over the last two weeks. Most of the WMs around here update the evening before.
What's funny how some stores have different limits on what you can buy.
Most are 3 box limits but some are 2.

Scored 22lr federal match 325 packs tonight.

Our store is putting it on the shelf earlier then they used to.

app doesn't seem to work tonight, it shows everything as not carried in my store

Same here. I tried restarting and reinstalling. The CCI quiet finally showed in stock instead of limited stock so I was hoping to get a couple boxes to try it. Everything says it's not carried here now though.

I scanned the box of 9mm that I used the app to get and it says that it's not carried at the store that I bought it from. Then I searched for the same ammo and it is out of stock.

Didn't know they had an app. Been to Wally World once in the last year. W/ ammo shortage I hit up American Canyon twice in the last week & got lucky & picked up 6 boxes of 556

You give the item number to customer service and they will tell you if it's back there or not. If you see something "in stock" and suspect the employees or managers back there are giving you the run around, go straight to customer service! These guys take it very seriously!!! I know first hand "some" employees/stores are full of **** and we now call their bluff and guess what? 99% of the time we walk out w/ our 3 limit.

I had Arnold Walmart Management lie about checking in back and they said I was wrong and the app was wrong and to come back tomorrow for the other truck that's coming in. Well, my neighbor went there a couple hours later and saw a guy walking out w/ 3 boxes of 555 winchester that was supposedly "in stock" but was no where to be found per management. Some of these workers are holding it for their personal agendas/gains. I posted my receipts in the 15-22 thread just to PROVE to you guys you can get ammo w/ this app!!! Better yet, see below :D

*The Fed 325 and 525 was bought elsewhere. Only the Winchester 333, 555, and 9mm were purchased using the website and app. I would have bought more ONLY if I knew about this "in stock" status months ago!!! I just learned of it a few weeks ago. Now it's YOUR turn!

Good luck all!

This is exactly why there is no ammo! How could you possibly shoot that much .22!

I'm sure you guys buying all the Ammo up are the same ones Turning around and selling it for 10x markup! I actually don't need any but there are lots of people that could use just 1 box just to have something for their kids to shoot. I think I'm still on the same 525rd pack I opened 6 years ago.

Seriously what's the purpose of having all that .22? Yes it's a free country and you can buy what you want but I mean do you really shoot it that much? I guess if you do then carry on...

Rant over.

If you're working on the same 525 round box you bought 6 years ago, I can understand why you might question the stash. There are guys at my local range who blow through a box of 525 in one outing. My wife and I shoot center fire handguns monthly and between us go through a couple hundred rounds of 38/357/9mm/45acp. When I was in a pistol league I went through that plus 100 rounds of 9mm a week.

I see about 5 years worth if the poster is an avid-ish shooter.

My target is and has been to stay at least that far ahead of the curve.

More if the Dems three-peat.

Yeah I don't shoot much 22, but do shoot probably 2500 9mm and 45 a year, but I roll my own:)

I'm getting a little tired of hearing people whine and make accusations because others have been able to purchase ammo.

I've been busting my butt getting ammo. How much I have or have been able to acquire is really no ones business. Just because you don't shoot much 22LR, doesn't mean that others don't or that they should be chastised for building up a cashe.

What's the purpose of so much ammo you ask?

The purpose of having a large cashe of ammo is to avoid being one of those you're referring to who have none. It allows us to continue to partake in our pastime, and most importantly it's built in price protection from events like we are currently experiencing.

Because I have a large cashe, I've not been forced to buy from the secondary market at inflated prices! That's the reason for the shortage! Panicked buyers purchasing from the secondary market at hyper inflated prices! The fact that people are willing to spend as much as they are motivates the "scaplers" to buy everything they see so that they can resell it.

You have to realize that ammo will never be any less expensive than it is right now. It doesn't go bad, and it doesn't lose it's value. That's why I continue to add to my cashe.

For these reasons, I will continue to bust my butt, check my app, use Gunbot, use the in stock 22LR thread, get up early, wait in line, etc... Whatever it takes to ensure that I, my family, nor my friends will have to fall victim to the market fluctuations like this in the future.

I'm new here and didnt read the whole thing, but here in my area, there are about 15 WalMart's within an hour of me. There are also about 20 people who literally camp overnight to get ammo. Depending on what geographic part of the metro area the stores are on, up to 6 per store. They literally get there as early as 6pm the night before, so they can be first in line at 7am. One guy reportedly has been mentioned that he is unemployed and on disability, and uses "your money" to buy ammo and sell it on gunbroker.

You personally might not do it, but at least in my area, most do. In fact it's to the point that you have to get there at like 3am or earlier to even be 4th or 5th in line. And this is every day. The way it works around here, is of the 15 WalMarts, the stores get ammo every 3 days or so giver or take, so these clowns show up every day at a different store because rarely does ammo show up at 2 stores on the same day that are close to each other.

If you're tired of it then stop posting or bragging that you have thousands of rounds! Yep it's a free country and you can do that but at the same time I'm also live in this free country and I can point out exactly what is happening. Just like the above poster people are camping out hours before they release the ammo. And also. It's the same people every day. I could really care less my point is that you guys doing this really are depriving people that don't have any from getting one box.

I personally have probably 3-8 500rd packs that I bought several years ago so I would not have to buy 22 ever again.

There is over 14,000 rounds of 22 in the above picture. That would take a person years to shoot.

You say the purpose is to avoid not having any?.. If you had properly bought a little extra back before all this mess started you wouldn't be in the spot your in now!

Only people buying it around here and camping out each day repeatedly are just turning around and gouging people that just need 1 box for 4x the price. Despicable what we "gun owners" will do to our own kind just to make a few bucks!

Like I said to each their own and yes thank god we do live in a free country and can buy and sell what you want when you want. really though you guys that hang out every day for ammo need to probably actually get a life and maybe spend some time with your family or something...

I'm sure there are. It sucks and I feel for those at the mercy of the secondary market.

Again, it's the buyers who drive the market.

If there weren't buyers for the ammo, then those people wouldn't be there.

I'm sorry, but it's as simple as that.

If people would stop purchasing the ammo at the insanely high prices, there wouldn't be any financial motivation for the scalpers to do what they do.

While it's to late for this situation. Now is the time to learn from this and start to prepare for the next (and there will be a next one) shortage.

If you're tired of hearing about my success and preparedness, please feel free to stop reading my post.

The reason for this shortage in not my cashe or my buying my allotted 3 boxes of ammo every week or so.

People are camped out buying ammo because there is a market for it.

It's panic buyers driving this market! Plain and simple.

No one is forced to spend $50.00+ for a brick of 22. Why are people willing to pay so much? Because they weren't prepared for this and are forced to use the secondary market to acquire their ammo. It's a vicious circle, but as I stated, it's the buyers driving the market.

If the gentleman who posted that image shoots 500-1000 rounds every time he shoots, that would last the summer if he is lucky. Who are you to determine if that amout is ample or not for his situation? Again, just because you don't shoot that much, doesn't mean that others don't.

I had a small cashe of 5000 rounds built up before this latest shortage. After three months of regular trips to the range and not seeing much if any ammo locally. I made the determination that my cashe needed to be much larger. Again the amount of ammo I feel comfortable having on hand is relevant only to me. I and I alone will determine what that amount will be and I will not be made to feel guilty for being prepared.

I'm not one of "those guys" you are referring to. I'm one of the guys who isn't at their mercy. Hopefully you can understand that there is indeed a difference.

Yes I understand the difference and not trying to point fingers. If people shoot that much more power to them, I wish I had the time to shoot that much. Not tying to tell people not to shoot. It just erks me to see those people showing up everyday and then selling it for $50 a box. You are right though if people would stop buying it or paying that much for it, it would come back in stock.

That is of course if O'Dumbo stops buying up all the ammo also to dry up the supply...

It appears he have reached middle middle ground. :)

The situation erks me as well. As I stated, I have not and will not purchase ammo on the secondary market. I understand the profit motive and as a propionate of the free market, I can not condemn those participating in the free market.

Again as it is a free market, I am free not to partake in it if it is not to my advantage.
