OFFICIAL Using Wal-Mart App/Website

Well I just downloaded the app and hope it works. I have been trying to buy cheaper ammo for months and Walmart when they do have it locally (read never) is the best place. The gun shops are still out to rob you blind though they do have lots of it locally. The only thing i ever find locally in Walmart is shotgun or rifle ammo.

I've been using the app since the beginning of the year. What I've found from the start of using the app (early Jan/Feb 2013) to now is:

Ammo no longer shows "In Stock/Limited Stock/Out Of Stock". By definition, "In Stock" used to mean the are expecting 4+ boxes of ammo. "Limited Stock" used to mean less than 4 boxes (1-3 boxes). "Out of Stock" = Out of stock.

About a month ago, the app changed and it now says "Availability Unknown". I have learned that "Availability Unknown" means that they have stock either on their shelves or is coming in.

One way to know for sure: Check the app in the morning. If it shows "Out of Stock" then changes to "Availability Unknown" in the afternoon, that usually means they are getting some in that day. The status typical changes between 3-4pm (at least for my stores anyway).

Once the truck arrives (around 3-4pm) the manifest is scanned in and ALL items will be updated on the app.

This is where it varies by store and District. Some stores will hold onto the ammo and won't put it out until the 7am shift comes in. This means ammo will hit the shelves around 7:15am.

Other stores would put the ammo out that same day (usually between 6-8pm. The stores that would put it out at night is hit/miss as far at times they actually put them out, whereas, the stores that put them out in the morning, put them out at 7:15am. During the ammo madness, I remember having to wait in line at 6am to be one of the first in line. I think things have quieted down since.

Also keep in mind, there are ammo sku's that don't show up on the app. This makes it difficult unless you frequent your store for other reasons and happen to find some of these. WWB 9mm, UMC 9mm, Remington 22LR (525 rds), Tula 9mm are a few that don't show up on the app.

I have a store that is within walking distance of me, so I am fortunate enough to walk in a moments notice. I am typically in that store at least once a day anyway for groceries.

I also have a "list" of ammo that I am specifically looking for. Here is what is partially looks like. You can add all the ammo you are in search for in a handy "shopping list". I would also add other ammo not because I am looking for it but maybe as a hint that ammo is actually showing up. This is how I luckily find those sku's that the app doesn't.

GOOD LUCK!!

Just a follow-up. With the help of the app I was able to score 3 boxes of 9mm Remington ball ammo. It showed info not available, I called the store and the lady said we have lots of 9mm. I got in my car and hauled *** 30 minutes away. When I got to the ammo case there were 3 other people ahead of me. They were buying .556 and .223 ammo. My wife was out with my son so I was limited to just 3 boxes but it made my day. Thanks guys for posting this info.. ;)

I have used the Walmart app to acquire 16,200 rounds of 22 LR over the Summer/Fall....worked every time I used it.

Here's how I check for 22 LR stock using the Walmart app on an Android

start app
click Walmart in upper left corner
click Stores...once it has found the local stores
click the * in upper left corner
click Home
click Search
type in 22 lr ammo & click the magnifying glass to do the search
a page will come up with multiple listings of 22 ammo
since I am only interested in "bricks" I start at the top and click on first brick listing. If it says Out of Stock for my nearest store I click "More Stores" in lower right corner. If all the local stores say Out of Stock I hit the phones Return key to get back to the ammo listing and select the next brick and check it the same way...and so on till I've checked all the bricks in the listing. What you are looking for is a store that says "Availability unknown"....this is the key words meaning ammo is there. In my area I have found that trucks come in late afternoon and by early evening if any ammo is on board the status will change from Out of Stock to Availability unknown. They keep it in storeroom lockup til the morning shift comes on then bring it out for stocking to the shelves...and I am waiting there to get my 3 bricks (or 6 if I bring the wife with)

If you want a heads up on when ammo is coming in you have to be diligent checking every day. If you use the app like I explained above it only takes a few minutes to run through the complete listing of 22 ammo checking all the stores in your area.

16,200 rounds of 22 ammo

it appears Walmart has taken .22 ammo products off the App and Website search function.

Was working yesterday but when I did a search today only 2 products showed up 50 rd CCI Standard velocity and 50 rd Thunderbolt.

Well I'll be DARNED! You're right! I just installed their app yesterday morning, scored some 22 ammo last night, and they screw it up today. What the heck are they doing? Why would they take something that draws people to their stores off the app? That is seriously messed up...

updated my app and it is screwed also, then I remembered buying backup pro and doing a app backup a 2 months ago, restored the app from there and all is fine again

Yeah, well if checking ammo inventory is what you want the app for you might as well un-install it. As of this morning they no longer have info about 22lr in the inventory database that the app accesses. If you run it and search for 22 you'll only find 50 round boxes of CC and Remington. All the info about bulk 22lr seems to have been deleted from the database. How freakin' stupid is that? One of their most popular sporting goods items and they take it out of the online database. :rolleyes:

agree the app is about a useless as used toilet paper

should start a FB page boycotting WM LOL

Yep, time to go back to hatin' on the Walmart. Just like everyone did before Dec. 2012...:rolleyes:

.22 LR is now back in the search database

COOL!
I don't know how many other people used the feedback option built into the app to complain about the change, but I know I did. I suspect a bunch of people did and that's what persuaded them to fix it. SWEET!

Hi guys
Who knows the SKU# for the winchester M-22 1000rd packs?
It's not showing when I search for it.
Actually I can't see the SKU# at all on the app, I looked it up on walmart.com for the Winchester 333, that's the only one I can find.
Lots of .22LR showing as "availability unknown" so I'm going out early to see.
Hope me luck!

Many thanks

This AM was my first shot at chasing .22LR using the app.

Everywhere I checked, all I found was "out of stock" or "availability unknown".

Kept checking throughout the day, nowhere that I saw stock did the stock levels change.

"Availability unknown", wasn't a 100% that there was ammo, but "out of stock" was a for sure that there wasn't.

I did score 3 boxes of Stingers @ $6.47 each; 3 boxes of MiniMag 40gr solids @ $7.47 each at 2 different stores, for a total of 750 rds.
Average =0.08564 per rd.
Stingers =0.1294 per rd.
MiniMags =0.0747 per rd.

I'm less than thrilled by some employees' reticence, but others were willing to go check or even offered to let me know what came in on trucks if I called!

Thank goodness it wasn't snowing, actually got up to almost 70 deg F in some spots, so it was a good day to ride.
