OFFICIAL Using Wal-Mart App/Website

That's a good thing the app doesn't show ammo like it did...16,000 rounds for one person means a bunch of people didn't get any.

As much as a PITA this is, at least WaLMart ISN'T GOUGING on the prices!

Summer of 2012, I was paying $5.99/100 rds for CCI MiniMags ON SALE at Palmetto (PSA).

Yesterday, it was $7.47 at WW.

They are not taking advantage like EVERYONE ELSE.

Kudos to Walmart for that. You can't really say EVERYONE else is gouging, though. Many of the big ammo sellers are at least keeping it halfway reasonable. Cabela's, Gander, even Midway and Natchez. (As much as people curse their shipping costs) Walmart and Cabela's are the 2 biggest ammo sellers in the country, so you know there's ammo out there at some semblance of a decent price.

You evidently missed reading post 556 above...

with what Walmart has back in the app search database plus upc symbols I've scanned and saved from .22 bulk boxes that Walmart sells but isn't listed in the database I'm all set to buy more as the app lets me know when it comes in to all my local stores.

Who got 16,000 rounds? I must have missed that post.

Since Walmart limits you to 3 boxes of ammo each and they don't sell anything bigger than 555 round boxes, that would mean hitting 11 stores and getting 3 of the 555 round boxes at each store. Even if you took somebody with you so you could get 6 boxes you would still have to hit 6 stores. That's a lot of driving.

If someone got 16,000 rounds over a period of time, then more power to 'em I say. I'd like to have that kind of stockpile...

My local WM has a pro-hunting / shooting sporting goods manager. No games. Ammo is slowly appearing on shelves. Hunting ammo came first, then some rifle, a bit of pistol. I swing by every time I'm in the store. Yesterday there was a few small boxes of Rem Sub-Sonic... she (manager) pointed out it was S/S. I bought 3 boxes for $5.something a box. It'll do for plinking. At least they are not holding it back.

anybody figure out how to check for the 17 Win Super mag with the app yet?

Many thanks

This AM was my first shot at chasing .22LR using the app.

Everywhere I checked, all I found was "out of stock" or "availability unknown".

Kept checking throughout the day, nowhere that I saw stock did the stock levels change.

"Availability unknown", wasn't a 100% that there was ammo, but "out of stock" was a for sure that there wasn't.

I did score 3 boxes of Stingers @ $6.47 each; 3 boxes of MiniMag 40gr solids @ $7.47 each at 2 different stores, for a total of 750 rds.
Average =0.08564 per rd.
Stingers =0.1294 per rd.
MiniMags =0.0747 per rd.

I'm less than thrilled by some employees' reticence, but others were willing to go check or even offered to let me know what came in on trucks if I called!

Thank goodness it wasn't snowing, actually got up to almost 70 deg F in some spots, so it was a good day to ride.

got be there early, like waiting at 7am for them to bring it out, usually gone my 8am or sooner

When I check WalMart's site for in stock information, it always says store information not available. How do you find out if your local store has ammo in stock without actually going to the store? Is there something I'm overlooking? I've only lucked into ammo twice in the past year -- two boxes of 100 Mini-Mags and two boxes of 50 Stingers. They get ammo, but it's always gone by the time I drive the 56 miles to the store, since I can't be there at opening time.

This link is pretty accurate at telling you if the Walmarts in your area have what you want.

Well, after two weeks of using the app and checking the web site, I've determined that for me, both are worthless at helping me find .22lr ammo. Checking the app I've never found a time when the status went to "available" or "in stock". The best you get is "availability unknown". I thought if I watched the app and found it going from out of stock to availability unknown, I'd know the store had ammo, but that never really happened. When I go to the site, I can see why. If I search on .22lr, it says not available in my local store. When I click on "find in another store", it shows other stores. However, there is a status statement on the site that says something like "updated on such and such date and time". Problem is, that status changed about twice in the two weeks I was looking at it and when it did, it was at about 11am.

I think everyone knows, there's no .22lr in Walmart at 11am. Also, that status didn't change at 11am. It changed later in the day and said as of 11am. So even if it was accurate at 11am, you wouldn't know it until it's too late.

Therefore, I've resigned myself to the last alternative. I'm going to stop at a Walmart on my way to work every morning until I get some. I figure my best bet is to be there around 6:45 and talk to the "regulars" and figure out how to get some ammo. All the clerks I've talked to have been very nice and have all said what others have said in this thread - that they get ammo on the truck at 10pm and someone puts it out at 7am. They also say that they are getting it pretty regularly which, getting back to the app and web site, is not consistent with their app or web site inventory.

Wish me luck! If I could get three bricks of anything so I'd have about 1,000 to 1,500 rounds, I'd be really happy.

just added the WM app to my phone and it even found my store automatically for me....it will now become a daily thing for me...I scored a brick of 500 at Sportsman warehouse this morning...woooohooo

usually I check the app in the evening, if the 22LR show availability unknown I can be pretty sure that there will be some there at 7am the next morning.
it does not ever say instock now

Jeff,
Please let me know if this works for you. When I use the app, the availability unknown label can stay at a particular store for days - even weeks. Generally, I think you have to notice that it changed from out of stock to availability unknown right away and go to the store. I've confirmed that's what is happening at my local WM's. Just wondering if it is different anywhere else.

Basically, I think I have a better chance just going to the WM that's on the way to work first thing in the morning until I score. What do you think?

BrassBadger - Ammunition Availability Tracker - Find .22LR In Stock

Haven't had any luck in CA with Brassbadger or Ammocan. Have tried the Walmart Android App and it is much faster that using their website, but, you still have to check each type of box separately. Found this site that runs all the different types of ammo that you select like 22 and lists them all at once, tells you how many Walmart's in your area have them, my area comes up with 5-10 stores within about 50 miles.

You have to select the button at the top "Walmart Ammo", and then select the caliber to search for, and your zip code to narrow down the hits. Got 3 "555's", 3 225's, and 3 "333's" in the last two weeks. Just retired so I have the time to get there at 530 to get some when the doors open at 700.
301 Moved Permanently
Good luck in the hunt!

I have had it stick on availability unknown for days also, I just check late in the evening and if it looks like a go I stop on the way to work at 7-7:30 the next morning to check, Not always reliable but I have had pretty good luck lately. I have seen it at my WM all days of the week, even Sat morning awhile back I got 3 fed 550 packs

still trying to figure out how to use the app the find the new Winchester 17 Win Super Mag ammo :(

Anyone know which walmarts in the Cincinnati Ohio area actually get .22lr's in stock?? So far the app doesn't give accurate availablity and I never seen any on the shelves when I visit walmart. Bought a new toy that I can't even play with. Smh
