Old Lobo is retiring

I just yesterday received my second (and final) holster from Ray, an enhanced pancake for my 4013TSW. As expected, it fits and functions perfectly. Sorry to see you retire but I understand, congratulations! Maybe I should say I'm not sorry to see you retire but I'm sorry to see that your holsters will no longer be available!

Ray, Good luck in retirement. I have bought several holsters, and loved them and the fact that I was buying from a fellow Coloradoan. Not sure where I will go for future leathers, but they have a hard act to follow!

Congratulations on your retirement, Ray. You have been so good to deal with.
God bless you. You are the best.

It's a sad day when Ray is retiring, glad I bought two holsters from you when I did! I'm in absolute love with my horsehide iwb holster you did a month or so ago for my model 19. Congratulations on your retirement! I have no idea where to go for holsters of the same quality and price now haha...

I too have a Lobo horsehide IWB for a K-S&W revolver. Knew there was some good reason to treasure it. Like most all these posters I had other Lobo holsters I intended to order. Congratulations and best wishes for a retirement YOUR way!

Enjoy retirement, if you decide to pick up a hobby, try anything BUT leathercraft! lol. Sometimes it can be hard to walk away.

Best wishes, Ray! i have one of your shoulder holsters that will last well into my son's retirement! Enjoy and be well, it was a pleasure dealing with you..

Congrats Roy..... should have ordered those combat classics I wanted.....

I do have a pair of his holsters.... and glad of that..... good luck ole son.

Well shucks, I guess I have to stop buying handguns now, since all of mine wear lobo leathers when they go out on the town.

Thank you for your excellent products, and may you have a long and joyful retirement.

Congrats on your retirement, Ray....You made a flap holster for my S&W model 10 which I use when riding my quad in the Arizona desert...

Everyday will be a Saturday now...:)

No offense Ray, but I hope you hate retirement and return to your fine leathersmithing.
I thought making holsters was what someone did WHEN they retired!
All joking aside, enjoy your free time, don't let any of it go to waste and thank you for the holsters I was fortunate enough to get from you.

I guess I'll just have to make do with the 4 I have, but darn it I still need a couple more. You deserve the retirement. I have mine and I wouldn't go back to those hours for anything.

Old lobo is retiring

Have a long and happy retirement.
You will be busier than you have so far in life. Learn to say no . Have fun and do all of the things on your bucket list. The busy art and saying no will be clear shortly. I can not figure out how I got everything done before I retired.
Good luck, good health and thank you for all of your shared wisdom.

Just spoke to Ray...

I just got off the phone with Ray from Lobo Leather. Ray advised me that he is in negations with an experienced, father and son, team of leather workers, who wish to continue the Lobo Leather brand. They will be offering the same range of products as Ray did.

If things go as planned they will be accepting new orders starting in early October 2015. I've already got my pre order in. I guess that's what happens when you've known someone 40+ years:D

I decided not to post in this thread.

But just because I'm a nice guy.

By hook or by crook I have ended up with a few of your holsters and the work was impeccable. Enjoy goofing off. You deserve it.

Now that's the kind of news we needed to hear! :) :D

That's amazing news to hear! Hopefully the holsters retain the same quality as when Ray was putting them together!

Most welcome news -- thanks for passing it along.

Hopefully Ray will chime in here with a thread introducing the new bearers of the Lobo Gunleather name, and tell us a little about them. They have big shoes to fill in terms of craftsmanship, professionalism and reputation.

Great, I had not gotten off my tail and ordered a Combat Classic, maybe there is still chance I can come up with one when the dust settles.

Update on Lobo Gun Leather

OK, my friends, here is what is going on at this point in time.

The Fedders family of northwest Iowa has agreed to purchase Lobo Gun Leather, and we have reached a verbal agreement. For those who have never participated in the sale of a business, it is at least as complicated as the sale of a home or other real estate. Our agreement must be reduced to a written contract before any payments are made or received, and certainly before tools and equipment can be moved to the new production facility.

The Fedders now have a small leather business and are looking to expand their operations. Their knowledge, skills, and experience promise to provide a level of performance that matches or exceeds what my customers have come to expect.

The Fedders travelled over 700 miles to spend a week in the shop with me, looking over the operation and the books, and starting to learn the Lobo product line and production methods. They have specifically asked that I remain on staff as an advisor through the transition period, and that I be on site during the first few production runs to assure continuity in production and quality. We have also reached agreement on continuing to honor the product warranties for past and current customers.

In short, I feel very good about this. I think this will be something that is good for everyone concerned, including the customers.

Will try to keep you posted as this develops further, and let everyone know when new orders will be accepted.

Best regards to all.

Ray

Great news. I just got my order from Ray and my partner and I will be wearing Lobo Leather rigs for a revolver specific course we are teaching. They look great and glad I was able to get some unique "Made by Ray's hands" holsters and loader pouches. Wish I could post pics, but you'll just have to trust me on the quality and cool factor of a couple of 3" Model 66's with Nill grips on both in matching Combat Classics and loader pouches.
