As I type this I am receiving that aroma from the kitchen that I love.

My glass Pyrex stove top percolator which has been filled with spring water and Chock full o' Nuts (The Heavenly Coffee) is about ready for me to pour. Fresh cream enhances the taste, not that powdered stuff or half and half.

Am I the only one still using this primitive method for making a great cup of coffee?

Every now in then I'll make up some cowboy coffee. I haven't spend the night out on the ground for a long time, so somehow, it's not quite the same. But like you said....that smell of fresh coffee....MMMMMMMMM....

I remember getting coffee in a sack and it had a stick of hard candy in it.

Coffee was measured by using the palm of your hand, just grab a handful and throw it in cold water, then boil it until it was right. Add a dash of cold water to settle the grounds and "saucer it".

Ever heard the term "saucered and blow ed" meaning its ready, that's where that term came from.

And low and behold the poor gal or guy who washed the coffee pot.

Coffee the drink of the Gods in the morning

I like my coffee hot and black and fresh. I like mine in a French press. it's kind 'a like cowboy coffee or sort'a like the coffee my grandfather made, course ground beans dropped into boiling water and let sit for a couple minutes then dip it out with your cup. He is the one that got me drinking coffee as a small boy;half a cup of coffee and half Pet milk and sugar in a heavy ceramic mug. I don't know if it was the coffee or time with him that made it so good.

WOW Pet milk in a can.

Just open up any fridge in the 50's and there it sat.

I never did like that stuff. Mother used it in some of her receipts , but I just didn't like the taste..

Pet Evaporated milk.:(

Wasn't it...Pet Evaporated Milk from contented cows.. Carnation was the maker?????

I make my juice of life in a perk pot. The Missus and I have separate pots, as I've switched her to de-caf, and she bought a drip type pot. I think perked just tastes way better.
It has to be strong, it has to be heavily caffeinated, and it has to be black for me.
I drink Folgers Butternut. I often meet prospective clients at Starbucks. I'm not impressed with a $4.00 cup of coffee. I make it way better.

Safeway stores (If there are any left) had a good in house brand of coffee. There aren't any more stores in my neck of the woods so:(

When I go to the big city, there are a couple of places there that do the roasting of beans. There a person can get just about any bean they want, from a morning type, an Expresso, or a after dinner bean. I never knew there were so many blends, for this or that. Used to be coffee was coffee. Perk it longer in the morning, for the eye opener or use less beans in the evening to make it a little weaker for after dinner.

Count me in.. :D:D
The Kureg is good but nothing beats the " Smell" of the old Pyrex bubbling away..:D:D

I just use an old drip coffee maker. And I take it straight black most of the time.

Sometimes when I get coffee other places, I have doubts on the taste, and will dose it up a bit.

Yep, I know of no one in my circle of friends, relatives using a percolator. Even my 85 year old aunt uses a Norelco drip pot (purchased prior to 1980).

Every time Before I leave for a hunting or backpacking/camping trip, I get full beans and freshly grind them. I have a french press for my Jetboil and man, the coffee is just amazing. I'm looking to get either a french press or a manual espresso maker called the Rok for the house. I love coffee, just can't drink too much caffeine in one sitting; it causes palpitations at my young age.

Coffee

I use drip, Aribic organic whole bean from B S 's. Did cowboy coffee break a egg in to contain grounds ?

The egg shells are supposed to help take out the bitterness, but I couldn't tell the difference.

Whole egg??? in with it???? The eggs either got fried or scrambled, but not the whole egg.
