When I was a young man in my twenties I would carry about anything including a nice 4 inch M29 I had. A 1911 was no problem. About ten years later my 1911 was down to a commander size or a M66. Last few years I have been packing a Glock 43 or a Ruger Max 9. Today I ordered a Ruger LCP Max. I am getting weaker or my pockets are getting smaller. Don't know much of anything smaller when I turn 80 in three years. Any other older dudes here feel the need to downsize as they get older.

Yes, I have also. Previously carried a 5" 1911, 4" K frame, Glock 22, sometimes a 642.

Now a Shield plus is my go to. But then again if the shield had been available 25 years ago.....

Hmmm.

As the world's gotten a bit crazier I've gone from a 640 Pro to a
627 PC.

Heavier, changed from 4 o'clock to 2' o'clock, and added rounds.

Each of us is different.

The differences are based on ability, strength, attitude, and perceived threat.

Ya'll be safe with what ya' got. Keep packin'.

I'll be 80 in a little over four years, have always carried a J Frame and still prefer the 340PD. With the warm weather here my LCP gets carried most of the time for a variety of reasons.

351PD has become my go to. LCP Max or 638 with wadcutters if I feel like I need more horsepower. At 47 too many recent injuries have really made me change my ways. Even my Colt Defender in a Milt Sparks is too much pain these days.

When I started to carry in early 60's my EDC was a Model 1911 in .45 acp or a commander in .38 Super. In the 70's when I would give the Model 1911s a rest it was Smith K or N Frame .357 mag, 45 Long Colt, 41 mag. mostly.

When the 10mm Delta Elite came out it became my constant companion for 10 or 15 years. After which it started sharing time with the .38 super and 45 acp.

Today I am carrying a Model 1911 and a J frame in my left front pocket.

wonderful choice i can argue that but i would put my money on the SFP..when i speak on comfort.

I have to admit I feel a little underguned with the 9 mm, but
these days I have little chance of running into anything but two legged varmints.
I put Magguts conversion kits in my magazines.
Maybe the extra rounds will weigh them down enough to stop them.🤠
