For whatever reason, I have never had much of an interest in black guns. I had one here or there, but they kept going away.....I just could not fall in love with any of them...AR's, Glocks, whatever.....

Now this summer, a forum friend did my father a favor and helped him locate a rifle that he was really lusting after, and this friend was trying to liquidate some guns to further his collecting interests. So....I felt obligated to purchase one of these black guns as a way of saying 'thank you' to a kind-hearted soul.

So without further ado, here is what began the shady side of my collection - a fairly early Glock 17, as new in the tupperware box. I don't know how it happened exactly, but a LGS buddy somehow talked me into another early 17, also very pristine. After watching the entire 6 seasons of Justified, I can not help but provide shelter for these two wayward orphans.

The knife is a Kershaw Leek. It is super thin and is my alternate carry when I am not in work clothes or blue jeans and my big Benchmade looks awkward.

Long long ago, I had a Glock 21, again an early one without grooves or rail, but it seemed very blocky and heavy to my teenaged 165lb self, so it went away. Later, after I was married, I came into a Glock 20 10mm, same deal, no grooves, no rail. It fit better, as I had grown into a somewhat larger version of myself at 220 lbs. I never got used to it, and it let me down when I was protecting our herd bulls, so it went to the Glock armorer for the fix, and then went to a better home.

Having seen the new 5th generation Glocks with the groove-less grip, I was reminded of what it liked about them when they first came out. My mother's father, a full bird Colonel in the US Army, had acquired one of the first Gen 1 Model 17's to hit our shores and he had it on top of his TV set until the day that he went on to his great reward. He regularly commented on the 18 rounds on board. If it was good enough for him, I guess that I can give it a fair try ;) (that Gen1 17 is in the care of his son now, maybe one day it will find its way to my collection).

Two things. I too have detested Glocks and have owned probably 10 variations of them but they have always gone down the road. I now have a G19 that I shoot as well as any other pistol and I just can't argue a way out of it. So I'm with you. Also I'm a huge fan of the show Justified!!

I too detested Glock for many years. Then I came to find that it wasn't Glock itself but Glock Nazi's as I like call them. You know, the people that say Glock is truly perfection as it's the only gun you'll ever need.

Owned a few a parted with them. But them came to the realization that they were indeed all I needed. Folks flock to Sig, H&K, and many other brands because it works for them. It's fortunate we have so many choices.

When I look at a Glock and a highly polished S&W side by side, there's no question with is more beautiful. But for a black plastic soulless gun, Glocks are pretty cool I think.

I have no hate for Glock. They are just not for me. My FNS 9 does for me what Glock does for so many people. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger and it is accurate. Does not have the aftermarket support that Glock has, but as a nightstand gun I need no aftermarket parts. I have a Walther PPS M2 for when I do not carry a a J frame. So, everyone who likes or dislikes but still uses Glocks, more power to ya. See you at the range and we can have a friendly wager on group sizes. (You will probably beat me, I consider myself a fairly good shooter but no more than that. Not enough practice until lately)

FN makes outstanding guns. But since one of two Glocks are my primary carry, I like the huge aftermarket support.

Glocks are good guns. I had a Gen3 Glock 23 for a while. Did change a few parts to my liking, but I wouldn't say any of those changes were necessary. Ended up selling it.

I'll probably get a Glock 19 at some point, if for no other reason than their ubiquitousness. I like the concept, but prefer a hammer-fired DA, so I went with a Beretta PX4 Compact, which has been my EDC for probably a year-and-a-half now.

I've seen Glocks that have been so heavily modified that about the only original part left was the frame. To each their own, but I'm not going to spend a couple of thousand dollars for a Glock.

I can't find fault with that. I've spent under $100 on each of my Glocks for "upgrades".

I'm way past spending money on upgrades that are cool. If it doesn't serve a useful purpose, I don't need it.

Like most of you here, I've had Glocks come and go. I don't own any presently and I do think they are ugly, but very utilitarian. I'm not a fan of striker fired guns in general. Don't worry SA...as long as you don't start wearing Glock apparel you haven't truly gone over to the dark side.

Not a Glock fan.As a retired LEO,Federal,our Agency stayed with Smith&Wesson.
I still keep my SW40c handy.
Yes, it has a lot of Glock design in it,as Smith&Wesson copied a Glock.

My sheriff's Office, and many law enforcement agencies carry Glocks. I find no fault with them, though I have never owned one. I have been carrying my CS 45 for well over twenty years, and plan on continuing to rely on my old friend, as I do not like striker fired pistols.

Oh, I still love the pre-war N frames, but a certain enabler pushed me in to a whole nuther land of black guns....check these out.....I may have drunk some of the dark side's cool-aid. Both of these are early representatives from their lineage.

Well, I don't really like to admit it publicly, but I have a number of Glocks in various flavors along with the more lovable S&W's, Colts, etc. Glocks have their place in my world. I generally carry a G20 in the mountains, especially in big bear country. A G17, 19 or 32 rides IWB if I want light weight and a big ammo load. Are they "perfect?" No but they're pretty good for their intended purpose. I just don't feel the need to criticize folks if their choices are different than mine.

Nice squeeze cockers! I've got one on my bucket buy list.

I've always admired the Teutonic stapler, even if I've never personally shot one.

I have not really been that fond of Glocks, have yet to own one, but that will change in a couple of months. I have not liked the finger grooves, and I just don't like the feel of the trigger's surface. I have no feelings towards striker fired, yet.

Because I work my club's Glock match, I will pick up a G17 Gen5, so I can shoot the matches with a pistol I am familiar with. Two and a half enhancements are on deck: installation of an extended slide release, installation of a Glock rear adjustable sight, and smoothing the trigger face. This will definitely not be a carry gun. Carry will be limited to: a 1911 Commander, the Sig P320 Xcompact I won, or my 686+ 3". Any future Glocks will have to have been prizes.

People do the same thing with AR's, and Ruger 10-23's. Some folks just like to customize. I'm not like that, which is why I never got into that camp. With my G19, I polished the internals using the .25 cent trigger job as my guide. And truthfully it removed a lot of that spongey take up that I hated and associated with plastic triggers. Now it's smooth right up to a crisp break and that's all I need.
