On a scale of 1-10, how ghetto is this?

This is what I came up with until I can get a new sling swivel...

It is D-loop material, so I know it will hold up to pressure, just don't want it to be a permanent thing.

Would a small cotter pin work to re-attach the sling swivel? If it would work, I could take the swivel off to charge the battery for my flashlight.

Is this rifle is for home defense? If so, I'd remove it as it's a liability. If not, carry on until you can get properly set up.

It doesn't look all that bad, you are on the right track. You could sew about 6 to 12 inches of 550 cord to the end of your sling in a loop and it would look just like something you bought online. Just loop it back through itself and cinch it down and tape it. Check out Way of the Gun's minimalist Proctor Sling, or even the universal wire loops that Blue Force Gear sells to make attachment points where there are none.

Get the Magpul Moe and be done with it. You are headed down that road already.

Dude, God gave you a brain to solve problems. Problem solved, you done good. Yeah, it's definately redneck, so be loud and proud with it!

Where I'm living we call that "farmer hack," and whatever works, works.

If it works it works. I might consider a big split ring maybe. Just thinking out loud (um typing out loud I guess).
