For many years I've had an affinity for specific brand and model rifle. On one of my many out of town journeys I found one in a small town gun store in the same town my cousin lived in. We'd gone to many gun shows together so he knew my weakness and had developed some of his own. Long story short, he ended up buying the rifle and I was thrilled as I had someone else to take up the passion. However, 5 years ago, he died unexpectedly.

Well a month ago, his Dad (my uncle) emails me and asks if I'd be interested in that specific rifle as his other son's just wanted him to sell everything. I was reading the email wondering how to tell him I'd spent my fun money when my wife comes home, looks over my shoulder and asks if that's my cousins rifle he's talking about and I told her ya but I don't have the money.

She said, "Write him back and tell him you'll take it. That's your cousins rifle and you need to have it."

As I'm excitedly writing my uncle the wife walks over and hand's me a check and say's here, "Send him this check."

Today he dropped the rifle off with a couple boxes of ammo off so I'm now convinced of two things, I have a new rifle and a wife that are both worth keeping.

I can't hardly stand it. What kind of rifle is it? Don

Being a life long lefty, I've always been partial to lever's but it was after my Great Uncle gifted me his takedown 1899 Savage 25-35, it was love at first sight. My cousins rifle is an unmolested 99EG Mid '50's vintage with a case-hardened rotor. The case hardened rotors though not rare are somewhat unusual. Because the 99's side ejected, they were perfect for a scope so it's becoming really hard to find one that hasn't been drilled and tapped or where somone's added a recoil pad. This one is an honest unmodified 60 year old rifle.
