As many of you know, I have a love affair with engraved pinto S&W's. For years I have drooled over the photos of a matched pair of Harry Jarvis engraved 357's that one of our well respected forum members occasionally posted. Well, a little while ago, he graciously agreed to sell them to me - and I am very appreciative...:D:cool:

One of the unique features of these two guns is that they came with the "Blanchard Red Ramp" front sight, that was only used by S&W for a short period in 1952. These two guns were engraved as a pair and shipped in December 1952 to Rex Firearms in NY City.

BTW: I have found that it is much tougher to photo two guns at the same time, rather than just one, so I'm not overly pleased with the photos, but I thought that I'd share them nonetheless.

A few closer-ups...

They came to me in a very nice Marvin Huey custom fitted case:

The stocks are presumed by some of the experts on the forum to have been carved by Alvin White. They letter with the guns and are spectacular pieces of art all by themselves (they are not identical). The first two photos are of one set, while the bottom two photos are of the other set.

1952 Catalog Excerpt on the Blanchard sight:

Somehow these 3.5" pinto engraved guns have taken hold of me and, I cannot seem to shake their grip (or "grips" in this case)...

Thanks for letting me share,

Congratulations on acquiring those two. They're beautiful. Yes, making good photos of two of anything is never easy. Thank you for sharing them with us. :)

Richard,

Congratulations on being able to acquire those two beautiful Harry Jarvis engraved Smith & Wesson's. Your collection of engraved S&W's is remarkable and we all enjoy getting to see them when you post them.

Richard,
I am awed by your collection and ability to stimulate the transaction! You may soon get a call from the FTC investigating the monopolization of engraved Smith's:eek:

Good Lord man those are beautiful! I'm all about shooting guns I own but on those two I just might not be able to pull the trigger lol.

That is a stunning pair of S&W's, love the grips and the engraving on the revolvers is impressive, I like how it looks like the engraver added "turn lines" to the cylinders. I would say you have the ultimate BBQ gun set. Thanks for showing them to us.

Troy:

That is something that always caught my eyes on these guns as well. Forward thinking on the part of the engraver to work the turn line into the engraving pattern.

Good eye. I seen it but it didn't register as to what it was. Very nice revolvers.

All:

Thanks for the comments and the likes. I would love to see a few photos of other Jarvis engraved S&W's - particularly those of the 357 variety.

Thanks again,

Engraved Pinto by Jarvis.

The grips don't match the style which tells me they are an A.A.White grip and the style is a scroll arabesque which is close to the Jarvis engraving but not a match. The carving is better executed then the metalwork. Still a nice pinto.
