One really old coin...

Auguries of Innocence
By William Blake
To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour

P.S. I've got a Trilobite too :)

I have a Trilobite fossil that's 250 million years old.

Someone told me they're extinct.... but it smells fine to me.

Looks like a Ptychopariina, or Elrathia kingii.
Cambrian period, 540-485 mya.
Most likely from the Wheeler shales of Utah or Nevada.

I could be very wrong. It's been along time since I've fooled around with fossils.
And no cracks about my dating life, thank you very much.

As boatme99 said, Roman coins were pretty available and, more importantly, pretty cheap a few years ago.

I have four, all just before or just after the birth of Christ. I kept them because it seems really cool to hold something in your hand that was made two thousand years ago.

The oldest stuffI have are:

"A" German-Austro-Tyrolean Campaign medal from the Constitution War--which was in eighteen fourty eight??I think?? Is made of almost pure silver and has a green and white::: probably a repo::: triangular ribbon attached to it.

"B" Two in excellent condition--US Civil War Minie balls. I cant remember if these are two or three ringed???

"C" A three place ribbon bar that had belonged to either: The ninety-nine day Kaiser--or to one of the men in his 'inner circle"--which is from eighteen seventy.

"D" A seven place ribbon bar that once belonged to: The Duke of Mecklinberg/Schwerin. I may have his name jumbled in order but it something like: Freidrich Franz von Grosssherzog the fourth.

"E" Krag Carbine from: eighteen ninety-eight.

Cant think of anything else off-hand???

I am related to General Sumpter, the SC guy from the Revolution that the Fort was named in remembrance. O, have a 1833 gold sovereign around in the collection.

We may be related. It will be interesting to see what my mom finds out. So are you or any of your family a member of the Sons of the Revolution or Daughters of the Revolution?
