A running thread about used guns & your trust, I don't want to change the direction of responses, but the basic answer is:

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

The difference you know?

A pessimist is a person that is afraid all girls are bad girls.

An optimist is hoping he is right.

I guess I am a pessimistic optimist, I know some girls are bad and glad I know them. Or as some one said once it the glass 1/2 full or half empty. Me I am glad to have some water and a glass.

I'm an optimist about people as individuals, until they prove me wrong.

I'm a pessimist about people in large groups, which is where most stupidity occurs.

An optimist says the glass is half full. The pessimist says the glass is half empty. The alcoholic says, "HEY, who the hell has been drinking my drink?"

And the engineer says the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

I totally agree about the behavior of people in groups. Bill S

I'm a stage 4 cancer guy, but my position has never changed.

An optimist has a blind faith that something good will happen.

A pessimist (like me) starts the day asking "what are they going to throw at me today", and is happy at the end of the day when the worst did not happen.

I don't look for miracles (ok, I'll take one if it comes), but I'm really happy for the same as yesterday. The same is the same. Better is great, worse sucks.

me too hoc, Stage 4 liver & lung, NSC. We're old farts, every day we get is gravy time here on this beautiful world He created.

Look at the kids in any of the Shriners hospitals, in St. Jude's Hospital, in any Pediatric Oncology wing of a major hospital, or at Children's Mercy hospital in KC, Mo., They have it tough, quite a few will never have a chance to see 10 years old, much less 20, & if they do they face terrible physical handicaps to overcome.....the derndest thing is all the wonderful smiles you see on those beautiful lil faces...........

I'm definitely an optimist, I've been on gravy time since my first go round with the Big C in December of 1999 & 2000. I am truly blessed.

Thanks Lord for the time you've given me & for my wonderful family & lodge brothers.........with their help, I get by real fine.

The way I heard it was, "To an optimist, the glass is half full. To a pessimist, the glass is half empty. To an alcoholic, some idiot wasted half a drink." :D

I believe in the glass being half empty, but that's because my wife drank the other half.

Me, I'm a realist.

I've always been described as a somewhat pessimistic person. I prefer to consider myself a realist. I KNOW something will go wrong! That light at the end of the tunnel? It's a train coming to run me over...
