Anyone have any recommendations on a good OWB CCW holster for a fullsize 3rd gen (5903,4003 etc) that conceals under a loose shirt? Since we should be getting CCW here soon, I figured I'd see what works from people who have been able to carry. I've found some IWB, but I'd like to try OWB too.

Something that isn't over $100 and isn't a 6mo or more wait. ;)

Lots of good choices. My vote would be for a pancake style holster. I like Don Hume. I carry a 4043...

Try looking at forum member Lobogunleather. He's got great stuff, very well priced, and delivers in a reasonable time. I have a few of his holsters, all top notch and well thought out.

I like tunnel loop or 55BN style holsters. The 55BN is Milt Sparks tunnel loop holster named after original make or the design, Bruce Nelson. Many holster makers offer tunnel loop holsters and they are all similar to Bruce Nelson’s enduring design.

Sparks it too long a wait, and Kramer over $100. I’d advice you to go with Kramer. I have several of his holsters including a tunnel loop design for a 4” N frame, and like it as well or better than Sparks.

With the 55 BN style or pancake style, are there issues with the gun pulling away from the body at the top, assuming a good belt? I figured I should get a higher riding one to be more easily covered by a shirt.

Assuming you do have a good belt, even your body shape can play a factor in how well the grip pulls against the body. I agree that a higher riding pancake tends to pull closer to the body but there can be stability issues if that belt isn't snug.

I have a 5903TSW but not a holster specifically designed for it, I make do with one I bought for my SigP229R which is a Bianchi model 19 which incidentally also works with my Sig P6. If however I were going to buy a custom I would probably go with a Tucker Gunleather, the HF2 I have for my 229 is very nice. They do have a wait period but it's well worth it.

Look at a Simply Rugged "Cuda". Price is right, delivery time is good, and quality is outstanding. I've got several of his holsters and they're all great.

Another vote for Lobo Gun Leather, check out the "enhanced pancake", I think it meets what you are looking for based on your description. Quality, Price, and turn around time have completely turned me away from Rosen, Sparks, and other multiple month, multiple hundreds of dollar holster-makers. Not that they are not good, but they just don't seem practical anymore after Ray makes you a holster.

Gould and Goodrich 3-slot pancake Series 733 if you can find it. Discontinued but sweet. Or the current offering in the 803 Gold Line series. Solid leather, USA made and under $50 shipped. I have one for my S&W 3rd Gen. and my Colt 1911 as well as my K-Frame snubby.
