Almost didn't stop at the pawn shop because of traffic, but wasn't in a big rush, so waited for traffic to clear and turned in. I looked in the case and there it was, a Pre-Model 10 RB with 4" barrel. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears, it was calling to me. And you know you just have to answer that call!

Sorry for the crappy pics, but wanted to get a couple posted with this thread. I'll get better pics in a couple of days and update. Its about as mint as a gun can be without the original box. I can't imagine how this gun stayed in such pristine condition all these years. It may actually be unfired. And yes, the grips are numbered to the gun. I'm going to try to see if the shop owner can get me some background information from the seller. Serial number is C1755xx which I believe places it between 1948 & 1952. Can anyone zero in a little closer?

I'm sure glad I stopped...................:D

Congratulations on the purchase of that great looking S&W revolver

Times must be getting rough if someone pawned a jewel like that. I hope they are doing ok and the pawn broker gave them some decent money for it. Great find and I hope that same pawn broker didn't empty your wallet for you to get that.

As a last second thought… I hope some kid didn't just pawn off daddy's gun to go buy a Glock… Why am I ruining this moment?!?!?! Sorry.

I suspect a lot of old guns like these are turning up because the original owners have passed on. Might have been the only gun they ever owned and nobody else wanted it.

To your second point, I not long ago bought a "S" frame 28-2, 6" barrel that a young fellow bought one day, then bought it back the next day, got a refund, and bought some kind of semi-auto instead. His loss, my gain.

To the OP. Great find!

A post-war RB M&P with a 4" barrel and service stocks. Seems like a rare configuration to me.

I gotta ask, how much did it take to bring that beauty home? My wife wont let me buy anymore guns this year since I bought a few last winter ;)

Mike :)

Wow! And I don't much care for K-frames. I don't think I could pass that one up if I came across it like the OP did. Well done Sir, well done.
