Looks like they are around $200 dollars cheaper than they were yesterday. May be a sign that something new is coming out for 2011 or the economy is hitting the home.

could it also be competition and the fact that the demand has diminished some??? no matter the reason, gotta love price drops!!! does that particular model have the IL??

My local dealer just told me yesterday that they had received new pricing from S&W. They have reduced most all J frames and bodyguards by $50.00. New pricing on M&P's will be out in January. Supposedly everything will be reduced. With that and them producing more lock free guns I might be able to consider buying new again.

Buds Gun Shop no change on SW PC 627

One month ago I ordered a SW PC 627 8R revolver for $990. I just checked and it is the same price. They claim their prices are updated every 20 minutes based on factory pricing.

Might be worth waiting a bit to get reduced pricing.

A couple weeks ago, Smith's website had the 686 i just bought retailed at $932. Now its $829. I dont think it would have made a difference in the price i paid for mine at the dealer since it was already in his display case....I paid $719 plus tax

This is a very interesting macro-economic indicator. Either Smith and Wesson cranked up the pricing to create arbitrage opportunities from the 08 Obama-gasm fear induced buying spree, or this reflects deflationary forces which the Federal Reserve bank will say is bad (yet paying less is never bad for the individual).

I am interested in this and will watch it carefully. I wonder if wholesale prices to dealers will be impacted by this, I am guessing yes.

You and me both.....

correct.....M&P's and others(alum j frame,15's) droped this week by at 1st glance $30-40-ish, 1st of the year more re-pricing on others j frames ect, but pretty much across the board price reductions that would work out the same-ish as the rebates(so dont look for alot of those upcoming)

I am an old school wheelgunner and poo poo'd the post lock S&W's, well I love my 340(7 years), 386ng and 327ng, adding a trr8 or r8 next week, not that i dont search for P&R smiths but the new stuff aint bad at all

Look for newly designed models coming out in the Spring. Just like the auto industry, reduce the prices to clear out all the current models so we can sell the "New & Improved" models next year. I always seem to go for the year end close outs and save money.

Unless they are lock free and don't look ugly, they won't be new or improved. Regards 18DAI.

Demand has dropped so prices are coming down, bubble has burst, no different than the housing bubble, now the gun industry will struggle to keep it's head above water as the market has been saturated. Time for the fad driven consumers to die off.
