OK Gents, Being that I inquired just yesterday regarding my M64-5 .38 SPL., 4” HB RB, I ventured downstairs this afternoon to retrieve its original Box. I thought I might provide anyone interested with a Photo of the Box Label, along with all the related information as listed on it. Note the UPC Label on opposite end list BLUE ?

SERIAL # BET-15XX
[ K Frame of course. ]
S&W Product # 102505
S&W Special Order # 0013
Matt Finished, Brushed Stainless

Best, Dom P.

Looks like a typo to me. All model 64's are stainless. The box is not as important as a letter from the SWCA. A letter is more likely to be correct.

The label on the left side does not look like a S&W label so it was probably just a mistake by the distributor/shop that added their label.

You are almost certainly correct regarding the unusual UPC Type Label on the opposite Box end. From I've learned, A fair amount of these 'possibly' Ex-Contract Run Revolvers were either traded in, sold, or otherwise returned to S&W for credit. After inspection, they were sold to select Distributors for sale to the public. This scenario is probably how my example ended up in Rhode Island here. As an aside, when purchased, the Dealer also had alongsiade it, A 2" M-49 with Saudi Arabian Police mkgs, & another which I still lament for not snapping up immediatley upon sight. It was an N.I.B., M10, Blue, 5" Bbl with UK style round Lanyard Loop, Frame marked "R.N.W.M.P." !! Unfortunately though, I couldn't afford to allow a n excellent example of a prospective new Duty Weapon for my Department. Had I known just a few short months later we would drop all Revolvers for signs a her .40's I would have never passed up one of my all time favorite S&W Model Types !!

Best regards, Dom P.

The end label is probably a point of sale label added by a distributor, wholesalers or even a dealer.

I’ve added point of sale labels when working part time for a gun shop that only had the upc code, but when scanned for check out would say what gun and serial number it was and have seen blue for stainless or stainless for blue come up because the person entering it hit the wrong button
