Picked up my used 617 July 3rd after a 3 day hold plus the weekend! But it's worth it!
S&W says not to dry fire their rimfires, found that drywall anchors work great to protect
the firing pin and cylinder! The gun is in beautiful condition and was $550 out the door!

Congratulations on the purchase as they are great shooters.

For me fired brass works best, but those anchors are a great idea! :D

Congrats, I just got a 617 6" wish I could have found a 4" instead.

Congrats on your new 617! I've been keeping my eye on one for awhile now, haven't found the one with a reasonable price yet. Sounds like you got a great deal. Have fun and would like to know your impressions on it. Quality and how she shoots.

Well, it's up to me to give you the bad news. You must carry fresh lemon slices with your new 617 when you take it to the range. Chew on them periodically while shooting that 617 - it will help lessen that "possum-eating-poop-out-of-a-hairbrush" smile that inevitably overtakes a new 617 shooter. At the least, periodic remarks - aloud - about how it shoots nearly as well as a Taurus you once had - might help. You'll want to bring and shoot a bunch of ammo - don't. It's a definite indicator you have a 617. Believe me - rangemate envy is tough to deal with! Above all - congratulations!!

Stainz

PS Don't forget the lemons...

I bought a 617 similar to yours this year, and I paid quite a bit more, and was happy to get it, so I think you did very well. I also have a K22 6" made in 1947 that is the bees knees. I love full sized .22 cal revolvers.

Here are my gals

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I'd been looking for a 4"
for about 3 months and ran across this one, LNIB. It's 10 years
old and the fit and finish is nearly perfect!
I bought a new 686 about 3 weeks ago and the fit and finish was ****. .012 cylinder gap, sideplate doesn't fit, etc.

I'm glad I jumped on mine when it popped up locally. 617 no dash 4". I love it.

Great Price now get the Best Speed Loader

It was worth the wait for the money. I gave $200 more than that 2 years ago. Check out the New Ansac Speedloaders out of Shooters Connection in Georgetown KY. You saved some good money, spend it on the best Speed loader if you want to have some fun. You won't have to wait near as long for those. Go to there Revolver section. There is a video as well. Well worth the money by far.
