I haven't been a member long but I thought I would share with you folks a picture of my favorites that I currently own. All of them have been shot except for the 629 and the only reason I haven't shot it is because I just got it a short while back.

The question I have is about value. That 629 with the long barrel has no dash, P&R'd, unfired with the original wooden box, blue box, manuals for everything, sealed tools, with the shipping box from S&W. I had to give $800 for it because I wanted one very bad. How bad did I get taken? I want to try long-range pistol shooting with it. If it does currently have value, should I leave it new in the box?

Thanks, Morgan.

I would have bought the 629 for that price. As for shooting it, I have the same problem myself with an ANIC Mod 27 that I bought Sunday at the gunshow. Well okay, I might shoot the Mod 27 for a cylinder's worth.

Nice bunch of S & Ws. Shoot the 629. It will not hurt it if you take care of it. I would not leave such a nice gun for someone else to get the pleasure of enjoying it. It's only money and in the long run it will not matter but I am old and don't know much.

I got to thinking that I should at least identify them-
Top w/scope=657-3
L#1=14-3
L#2=Pre-17 I have the original holster fot it.
L#3=19-2 Came from the forest service
L#4=29-2
R#1=10-6
R#2 and 3=13-2'S Only about 100 apart.
R#4=27-2 Much nickel flaking but was carried by a NM Lawman for 30yrs.
The short-barreled thing is a 34-1.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I will likely shoot that 629.

You didn't steal the 629 but you didn't get hurt on it either. I'd say for what you got it's a right price.
