Hello - I have a new M&P 9 2.0 compact. I have over 600 rounds through it. Great gun. But when I shoot it, the Locking Block/Sear Housing Block Coil Pin starts to work it's way out to the side. It doesn't seem like a big deal - I just push it back in flush with the frame. But after several more shots it starts to work it's way out again. Gun functions fine.

Any thoughts on this? Would some Loctite Blue be appropriate to use on it? I don't what to put any adhesive on that would hinder the function. See picture.

Thanks very much!IMG_4722.jpg

Call S&W customer service, they’ll send you a new pair for front and back, it’s the same pin.
I had the front work its way loose after a range session in my Shield Plus.
They couldn’t have been more helpful.
Put two new ones in…no issues since.
Strongly advise against using Loctite.. as it’ll just cause a mess…with not threads to grab onto.
It’s a machined fit, designed to be removed for maintenance if needed.

Thank you dajogejr! That's what I'm going to do today. Probably the best solution.

Just called S&W. They don't send out pins for self repair. They require the firearm be sent to them for repair. So I guess I'll go that route. Probably best having an expert do it anyway.

That’s crazy. Literally had the same phone call about a month or so ago.. and they shipped out the pins for my shield plus, along with a new plastic sleeve for my striker…zero issue. Had them in about a week or so.. I wonder… the pins in the Shield are roll type. I wonder if the pins in yours are machined.. but still, that’s crazy.
If it were me, I’d buy these and call it a day.

Would it be easy to replace myself? I don't want to break anything.

They'll send you a shipping label to ship it back. Then ship it back to you when done. Won't cost you anything. Better that route than take a chance if you're not comfortable doing it. And what if it's not the pin, but the hole? JMO

I can’t speak to your mechanical ability.
I can say… the front and back pin (not the one in the middle, the trigger pin) are literally pound out with a punch, pound a new one in. Trigger is a little bit tricker, not much, because you have to line up the block, slide release, trigger and trigger return spring loop.

Here’s what I would do.. Visit Apex Tactical site, view their videos on trigger kits. You need to watch about 10% of the videos that pertain to removal of the pins.

Don’t feel comfortable after that, yep.. let S&W take care of it.

Just because I do all my own work, doesn’t mean everyone should, only you know your limits.

I contemplated for a while doing it myself but knowing my luck something would t go right. Sending back to S&W!

I would get rid of - sell any S&W pistol and buy a Glock! Problem solved!

I've had several Glocks over the years - my S&W pistols have been more reliable. In fact, I traded a Glock 48 with problems for this S&W. Was very pleased with the trade. I probably won't have a Glock again. I think they are good, just not for me.

I had that same problem with my M&P 45 years ago. Hadn’t fired that many rounds thru it at the time. Customer service was. Water and I got the gun back within a two week timeframe. The pin has never worked its way out again.

It depends on who you talk to, I think. I had one rep tell me I had to send the gun in for repair when I broke a firing pin on a 15-22. Next time that happened the guy I talked to just sent one in the mail along with a new spring.
