Pineapple on pizza

Ham & pineapple is great on pizza but I had it once with regular pizza sauce and it was gawd awful, but with white sauce it’s great. If you’ve ever been single, like first apartment single, get the frozen garlic bread, chipped ham, and a can of crushed pineapple. Amazing food you can come up with when you got the munchies. Don’t EVER try that with hotdog. Never! No matter how elevated you are and how good it may sound at the time, don’t EVER put wiener on garlic bread for any reason whatsoever! Those little breakfast sausages, okay; but leave the pineapple off.

I’ve been reading the posts, not paying attention to who had posted.
When I saw “chipped ham” I knew it was a Yinzer, and figured it was you, Jeff.
Back on topic, I’ve never had Hawaiian pizza but would try it.

A couple of comments in UncleEd’s thread about pineapple on pizza got me to thinking, and I didn’t want to hijack his thread. I happen to like ham and pineapple pizza a lot and generally order that style more than anything else. I don’t have any Italian in me, so that’s my excuse:)

I remember the first time I ever tried it was at a port call in Bunbury, Australia. The first night we pulled in and everyone was heading to Perth for liberty, and I had the duty. We found a little pizza joint called Drooleys that would deliver to our quarterdeck. They had an option called Hawaiian pizza and being stationed at Pearl Harbor, we had never heard of it. Ordered a couple of those with a bunch of others for the duty section on the ship. It was a big hit, with all of the slices disappearing in just a few minutes. I snagged one and immediately liked it. Tried it a couple more times before we departed and was sold on it. We all liked Drooleys enough that their logo made it into the cruise book for the Westpac of ‘82.

Still there!

I’ll pass on the Pina Pie.
Once misfired in a Taco-Teria in the Barrio and ordered a Lingua Taco.
You would think that a guy who knows 20 words of Spanish and 15 in Latin would know what that is.

When you mentioned Hawaiian pizza, I thought of Spam and pineapple.

My first pizza with pineapple was in Costa Rica. Al Pastor (grilled, chopped pork) and pineapple. YUM

Isn’t fruitcake the second most hated food in America, right after tofu?

Probably just above livermush, which I also like. Most people who say they don't like fruitcake probably have only tried the garbage ones in the Grocery store every Christmas season. There are many different kinds of fruitcake, including the ones I make. You can thank Johnny Carson for the fruitcake jokes.
