Hi! I bought an older S&W buckle made by Alumaline. It is brass, and rectangular. The back says Alumaline 4108, BB-317. The front has the S&W logo, with Smith & Wesson, written across the logo. The lettering is gold, and the rest of buckle face is a brownish/purple, in leather. Any help as to its age, or any info about it; will be appreciated. Thanks Mikey

Post a photo, please. From your description, I believe it maybe one of the many ripoff buckles using the S&W logos, but I need a photo to tell you for sure. Alumaline is an old company in Lexington. KY. that makes many different metal advertising items, like buckles, money clips, etc. Current S&W staff have no records of older licensing deals with vendors of items like belt buckles, so unless the buckle was shown in a S&W accessories catalog in the past ( it isn't in any of my catalog copies), you would have to contact Alumaline to see if they have a records of any licensing arrangements to use the S&W logo on item made by Alumaline. Often times a vendor will make up samples of items they would like to produce under license with S&W, and if no deal is made, these samples appear on flea markets, etc. and confuse us collectors. Your buckle, and similar, are usually $15 to $25 items on Ebay. Ed.

Alumaline buckle

Hi Ed ! Thanks for the info on Alumaline, I see that they are still in business. The logo on this buckle is very nice, the lettering is crisp and detailed, with very nice leatherwork. All this means, is that it is a quality buckle, but like you said; it may be a pirate or never approved by S&W. I'm going to contact Alumaline, and see if they have any information. Thanks for your help and reply. Mikey

Buckle

hey guys, just found this post and thought I'd chime in. I'm an employee here at Alumaline which is a subsidiary of Nelson Boone Co. and yes, we are still around and have been here for more than 70 yrs. Also, we're in Louisville, not Lexington

As far as the buckles w/Alumaline on the backside, those are not ours. We once had an agreement w/someone who made these for us. The company is called Lombardo and Brown but they only sell the blanks. Their number is 1-401-274-3990.

Good luck
