Uncle Mikes / Blackhauk # 4 Pocket Holster. I think they are around $15. Or less. They last forever. They mold to your gun. They are not bulky like the leather pocket holsters. I have used them since 2004, every day. They say # 3 for the J-Frame but, I like the # 4. The gun comes out easier and the holster stays in better.

I feel the Desantis Nemesis is the better of the inexpensive pocket holsters. The uncle mike's have come out of my pocket with the gun on occasion b/c they don't have that wing at the bottom.

DeSantis Nemesis...affordable and effective. However, my favorite is a horsehide El Paso Saddlery Pocket Max...sometimes available for around $35 on Amazon. My 638 with a Nemesis:

I have a couple of Mika's that have lasted for years. Protect the gun really well.

IMHO DeSantis is the way to go, but I much prefer the Superfly version. Stays in the pocket better! ;)

I use the DeSantis most of the time for my 642, but sometimes I grab the Remora. The Remora has the advantage of being able to be carried as an IWB holster as well. Something about the material keeps it in place in your belt without clips or loops, and it really does stay put. But if I know that I am planning on carrying in my pocket all day I'll just go with the DeSantis. (I also have the Uncle Mikes, but as others have said, sometimes the holster comes out of the pocket with the gun when drawing, something much less likely with the DeSantis or the Remora.)

I use a pair of DeSantis Nemesis pocket holsters for my EDC - a Model 38-0 and a Model 638-1. They work great for pants pocket or jacket/coat pocket carry.

Dave

Tuff Industries. My M36 or M49 ride quite nicely in it.

I like the ones made by Simply Rugged because they are just enough to blur the outline of the revolver, but aren't so bulky as the ones cited above. Never understood a padded holster that makes it look like you're shoplifting club sandwiches.

Something to consider ( I already threw my vote in for the Desantis Nemesis), some pocket holsters are cut so that there is extra material behind the trigger guard. When you get a firing grip, your middle finger pinches that extra material against the back of the trigger guard locking the holster on the gun and you pull both out of the pocket. The Nemesis doesn't do that b/c it's cut properly. Some of the other non-leather holsters do though. Before purchasing one online I do a picture search on google to see if there is a pic showing that holster with my gun.
