I picked up a polish p-64,made in radom Poland, shoots the 9 by 18 Makarov round.i was wondering how collectable they are,and who would collect them.i see other posts not real recent, but they seem to sell from around 200.00-300.00.my p-64 is much nicer than any I have seen yet and would be close to 95% or higher.the slide is marked 1973 so I would think that is the year made.i cannot believe the condition it is in,and is really a neat small semi-auto.i want to find out more info on it and then I will decide to keep or sell.i would appreciate any an all info on the p-64.thanks.

The P-64 was considered a PPK Clone, used by the Police and Military, until it was replaced by the P-83. There are still a BUNCH out there, so they're not considered collectors' items (yet).

I picked up on one for under $200 a few years ago. Even with the lighter mak cartridge, the recoil is pretty stout. As mentioned, the 1st round is a long DAO, but the followup SA shots are very light.

Gander Mountain gets them in periodically, but initially tries to get $300 or more for them. If one waits a Month or two, they drop their prices to around the $200 mark.

This group seems to have the most info about it: The Unofficial P-64 Resource
and their forum: The Unofficial P64 Resource Forum ? Index page

They are not particularly collectable, but they are a fine weapon. They are sort of "snappy" shooting the 9mm Mak. About 1 1/2 years ago a bunch showed up on the market over here. They were immediately picked up by people and you don't see them up for sale too much any more.

I have a couple of P-64's. Not a lot of collector value but a very well made little pistol. 9X18 ammo is still pretty easy to get at good prices. I've changed the springs in mine and greatly improved the trigger. Great little guns, in my opinion. Here's one of mine, a 1974.

Looks as if they canted the underside of the slide upward to avoid the slide bite that some get from the PPK.

I purchased several P-64s about 6 years ago, when they were about $150 (IIRC). They all appeared to be as new, with excellent finish and little signs of having been carried or even shot much. They are great little guns, very accurate for their size. Yep, their recoil can be a bit "snappy". I understand that a simple spring replacement can fix that double-action trigger pull...I haven't done that yet, but I definitely want to.

Keep in mind that, not too many years ago, SKSs and Makarovs and such were relatively inexpensive, and not too many people considered them all that collectible either. Eventually, though, the supply will dry up, and then the prices will likely increase, and suddenly they will be "collectible".

The same thing has happened over the years with M1 Garands and M1 .30 Carbines, SMLEs, Springfield '03s, and a host of other guns, even the lowly Mosin Nagant.

I used to have one. They were $200. Was a nice little pistol. Not very collectable money wise
