I was wondering if any of you had polished your matte stainless finish on a 5906? I guess it doesn't help the value any, but they seem to be very cheap lately.

I had purchased one about 2 months ago and really like the gun. It has the CT grips on it and shoots great. I just wasn't crazy about the matte finish.

Next I took some Wenol and a soft cloth and rubbed on it a while for 2 nights. Man, does it ever look great. I didn't polish the very top of it to cut down on glare, but honestly it makes a world of difference.

I will try to post some pictures this weekend.

I also had a 5906 with the matte finish which I did not like. I used Mother's mag and alum polish to remove the matte finish and I now like the gun a lot better. I do not carry it and it is only a range gun.

I used a small piece of green scotch brite pad and a little 3-in-one oil to polish up my new to me 5906. I removed the darkened oil/residue with a paper towel as I worked on each section. It removed an idiot mark and blended some holster wear marks. Two beers later, it looked new. :D

I still carry mine. This gun has really grown on me. It's heavy but I hate plastic guns. All I carry is different size 1911's, 5906 and sometimes my Bersa UC9 which is a very nice shooter.

The Wenol took out some small scratches as well.
