Poll: Shield owners...who has the Apex kit and who likes it stock?

I have the apex kit installed. I like it. It's awesome at the range, but I probably didn't need it on a small carry gun. My stock trigger wasn't very bad to start, I just wanted to try the kit.

Mine is stock. It was a little gritty out of the box but after 1500 rounds through it it is smooth.

My stock trigger after hundreds of rounds was still hovering in excess of 7.5lb. I installed the apex and am waiting to finish by installing the USB when my sight pusher arrives as I didn't have any luck with my punches and the force was getting a bit excessive for my tastes. With everything else though, it's at a much improved 6 lb.

I have the kit installed and I love it. I only installed it because my previous carry gun(Glock 26) had the smoothest trigger from years of shooting it. I wanted my shield to have a closer feel to my old daily carry.

had it in mine. nice trigger. worth the money? not sure. one thing i am mindful of in my carry guns, is keeping it stock. the more you alter it the higher the liability goes. if it ever has to be used, in a court hearing they will grab hold of that in a heart beat. that said, i carry a S&W 1911 PD with a 2.5lb single action trigger...

You should have added a choice titled "I have both and like them both". I have an Apex FSS in my 9L Pro Core that I use for competition, I also have a FS9 and a 9c that both have stock triggers that I use for EDC, Home Protection, and competition in various stock competitions. I like them both.

I would not count on that sight pusher working. The Shields are known for burrs and lousy machining of the sight slot. I broke a sight pusher on mine, put a gouge in a brass punch and finally had to go to a steel punch to get the sight out. I discovered once I got it out that it was unevenly machined, had burrs and some idiot at the factory had applied an abundance of red locktite to it. Your experience might be different, but my suggestion would be put it in a vice, take the steps/precautions not to mar the gun, put leather of a steel punch and wack it hard till it comes out.

I've put sights in full sized M&P's and Glocks in a few minutes. It's not me or you, Google it, the issue is Shield specific. It's not true of all Shields, but I'm guessing occurs about 30-50% of the time.

Yeah mine was definitely not easy to get out. I read on the forum a bit before installing my apex kit and tfo sights. I ended up letting it sit in break free for almost 24 hours. After that I used a soldering iron to heat up the set screw to break the red loctite. Finally, I spent quite a while destroying some brass punches and a lot of masking tape. There's a gunsmith around here that charges $25 and if I had to do this again, I'd most likely be taking it to him to avoid the hassle. I think I messed up more than $25 worth of punches.

Stock because if for some reason i ever need it to defend my life. Its less of a case for the prosecution to say "He had a modified trigger". So as long as its stock, its one less thing i will have to worry about.

A few minutes with a minor disassembly and stoning and lapping of the involved parts, and no more grittiness. Every bit as good as the Apex kit, and it cost nothing.

My 40 Shield is my EDC. I prefer to keep it stock.

Stock along with my other M&P pistols. They are combat pistols and the trigger pulls are just fine for their intended purpose. Bill

My stock trigger suits me fine. A smooth 6 lb 2 oz when I checked it a few hundred rounds ago.

Well my stock trigger is 7,10 and my sons was 8.02
I like the trigger , but I am going to try the apex kit
I have 100 rounds thru the gun .
Ill probabaly do another 200 to 300 rounds before I do the kit

I feel I will apreciate it more that way

I have the Apex fss in my shield. Pull before had to be close to 8lbs. My full size is stock and it's good and broken in.
