Gosh, I sure could improve my vocabulary, if I looked up all these 2 dollar words y'all come up with. All I know is that if you want my sarcasm....come and take it.

I don't think I know how to communicate without being sarcastic. That's what the "roll eyes" emoticon is for .

I dated a gal for awhile who told me--after I did it, humorously--that rolling one's eyes was the most cruel, hateful and damaging thing a person could do in a relationship.

I thought she was being sarcastic...she wasn't!

This is the only forum where I can trust everything I read to be true. Please do not spoil it with sarcasm.

sarcasm is wicked and rude and has no place on a high class medium of open discussion or expression of ideas within our fellowship........let us all embrace and love each other daily.........

federali- "first and Foremost"
what the hell does that mean?
My example of sarcasm. lol
or maybe it isn't sarcasm?? It is too harsh, isn't it.

Yeah, right.
According to the Smithsonian rag the inability
to detect sarcasm is an indicator of brain disease.

The Science of Sarcasm? Yeah, Right

From the article:

Northerners also were more likely to think sarcasm was funny: 56 percent of Northerners found sarcasm humorous while only 35 percent of Southerners did. The New Yorkers and male students from either location were more likely to describe themselves as sarcastic. !

I strive to eschew obfuscation, the finest form of which is sarcasm, because few either understand it or find it amusing. That is not to say that it cannot be perfectly appropriate on occasion - rather like an "inside joke."

Once upon a time, some work associates and I were discussing a restaurant we had all visited at one time or another, and someone ventured that his party had all enjoyed the ambiance there.

One of our less-than-sharp office workers overheard the conversation, and asked what ambiance tastes like - you can imagine the sarcastic responses that generated, all of which pretty much went over that unfortunate's head...

Again, a warning that sarcasm can be hurtful, and needs to be judiciously applied, if at all. Conversely, it can be very useful when and if a jab to the jugular is your intent... like against some politicians who do not deserve by their demonstrated actions to be in "public service." Then, in my opinion, no holds are barred.
