Possible relocation to Indiana...

The weather in southern Indiana is much better than Indy and north. Because of the Sherman Minton Bridge closure, the traffic across the Ohio River is horrible right now, but they are supposed to have repairs done the first week in March. There may be some job available in your field in this area or in Louisville Metro. Living in Sellersburg, Floyd Knobs, Charlestown, Georgetown, Jeffersonville, Clarksville, New Albany or other smaller communities in southern Indiana would increase your travel time to Wisconsin, but would be worth the effort IMHO. There are several private gun clubs and one public range convenient to the area.

Thanks for the tips.

I've visited friends in Indianapolis and Lafayette, and I went to school in Terre Haute. Terre Haute wasn't my favorite city in the world, but the suburbs around Indianapolis are really nice. I've seen less of Lafayette, but what I've seen looks decent.

Lafayette, Indiana

Hi John.

If you have friends here in Lafayette, they may be your best bet for information about Lafayette/West Lafayette, Purdue University, the local economy, etc.

Due to the university influence along with business/industrial diversity, Lafayette has a history of a stable economy as opposed to many other communities in Indiana.

Aside from family, a couple of the main reasons we enjoy Lafayette and remain here are; 1.) It is a comparatively safe area to live. 2.) Lafayette is about a 1 hour drive from both Indianapolis and Chicago for those times when a major city has what we are looking for: Entertainment, sporting events, shopping, museums, etc.

A great many people also commute to both Indianapolis or Chicago as their employment requires.

Many years ago, when I was looking at relocation possibilities, I contacted the local Chambers of Commerce, indicated that I may be interested in relocating my small business and requested whatever information they might have to offer. The part about relocating a small business was a bit of a white lie, but it sure did cause them to respond with a ton of information! :D

Good luck with your search . . .
