Post procedure update. Son is going to have 3 bypasses Monday.

Prayers up for this good man and good American!! And for the family. Please keep us informed how he is doing. Please pass along my thanks for his service.

As other have said above he has a LOT going for him. He'll do fine.

70hunter I went through this February when my youngest grandson was born. His heart had not fully developed and they took him by chopper to Pittsburgh.I hadn't prayed in a long time but I prayed and prayed. It worked he is a picture of health and packing on the pounds.Your son is a strong young man and it is truly amazing what can be done now.Since I dusted off my prayer habits I will send some more your way.

I had a heart attack and triple bypass at age 46. Yeah, surprised me too.
I'm now 60 and medical science has made even more advances in the last 14 years. These days heart surgery is more of an inconvenience than a risk.
He'll be just fine. ;)

My father and mother had and survived by pass surgery. My father had his first one when the mortality rate for this procedure was 80% back in 1975. I wonder when my turn will come inspite of exercise and my wife helping us eat healthy.

I will be thinking of your son and his dad. Please keep us posted on his progress.

I had this done at 58 yrs old and now I'm 76 and am still doing ok. He will be fine in a short time.

Prayers sent. Remind him that the doctors' orders are orders and not suggestions. Good Marines follow orders, so he has to do what they say (smoking, diet, exercise, whatever they say).

Best wishes to your son for a speedy recovery. Bypasses as routine as major surgery can be these days. The recovery is faster and less complex than ever. A friend of mine who is in his early 60s had one about a year and a half ago. Five vessels. He was back to work in a month and back driving in two. The reason they make people wait that long to drive is in case they get in an accident the air bag or seat belt can cause damage to the sternum.

My mother had a two vessel bypass and valve replacement at 79. She did fine as well.

Your son is much younger and unless he has some other major medical problems, he should be fine.

Prayers sent for all. You say its not about you, I say it is about you and the rest of the family.

Anyone that sees a loved one hurting needs some prayers too. I pray for all to be strong.

AND,,,, Your a S&W forum member and that makes you part of a huge family. My family. Our family.

Although I know its YOUR son and you're worried as hell about him, I'm sure he'll be just fine. After the initial first few days post op, he'll feel better than he has in years. 45 seems young but that's the age when most problems with the heart begin and its good it was caught now instead of after a MI when muscle damage or worse is usually the outcome. Heart surgery these days is much more advanced than it was before. I will definitely keep him in my prayers.

This is a common operation today he will be fine.

First thanks for his service to our country.

My prayers are sent for him and his family. Be strong for him dad. He's going to be fine. After all he's marine tough I'm sure.
