I sent in a Walther PPK for a recall on April 20th. They still haven't returned it. Should it really take 10 weeks to repair a gun? I moved on and bought a Glock...

Very poor unacceptable service. 2 weeks turnaround would be plenty of time.
You did the right thing moving on. Screw it.

I have a friend in CO that sent his PPK/S in about the same time and he is having the same problem. I told him that as soon as S&W gets someone trained imigration comes in and grabs them. LOL

My PPK was recieved 3/31/2009 I am still waiting for it to be returned. I have since bought a M&P9c, a really great pistol, so maybe they did me a favour.

I spoke with S&W customer service the other day. I sent my PPK back in March. They told me it's just getting worked on and is likely to be done in around 3 weeks. The CS person's explanation was that they had to coordinate the fix and the parts with Walther in Germany. That makes total sense.

So the later you sent it in the quicker you get it returned, mine must be somewhere at the bottom of the heap.

Walther recall

The PPK/s models are being returned, the PPK model repairs were dependent on S&W getting a spring unique to that model from the supplier.

Mine was received April 7, still no pistol. This is the response I got from them Firday July 10 via email...

"We are taking care of the recall repairs and shipping an average of 300 firearms per day, the PPK model requires an additional part that the PPK/S model does not, the original time quote was missed due to us not having the part. After we received the part we completed the level test to prove the repair will work and we are beginning the repairs on the PPK this week. We are told by the Walther repair group they will have everything in house completed within six weeks."

Took almost 3 months to get mine back, every time I called the said 2 more weeks. This was the first time ever I was disappointed with their service. Although they did polish the feed ramp.

I just want my PPK back...

Remind me never to return a Walther for recall. My PPK has been gone for over 3 months.

I had a Ruger LCP recalled and it only took them 10 days to receive, repair and return my gun with an extra mag, fingertip extension and a hat!

I better get some ammo from S&W to make up for 3 months! :D

I hope somebody gets more than just their gun back from S&W , all I got was my gun in very fine shape I might add but it was gone 15 weeks total. I think they should have sent at least an extra clip or range bag or hat or something.

My PPK/S took 10 weeks -- sent late March, back mid-June. They work sheet said they polished the ramp in addition to doing the recall parts replacement. The job sheet didn't mention it, but they also cleaned it up a bit -- the surface was a little smoother, rub marks on the barrel had been cleaned up, that kind of thing.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet -- other stuff intervened. I'm going to burn a lot of ammo come August when the days open up again.

I got mine back today, after 17 weeks, good excuse to go to the range. However I got two magazines sent by S&W in May, so I have not had a need to look at them; they must be for a PPK/S as they hold seven rounds. Back to the E-mail.

Back Finally!!!!

Thursday (07/23) I got a letter from S&W apologizing for the delay in the repair of my PPK that I had sent in 03/29/09. Luckily on Friday (07/24) my wife was home when FEDEX came. It wasn't announced, I didn't receive an email from S&W or anything (even in the letter) . There was a letter with it and they said that they "polished the ramp of the barrel" and "repaired decock lever system".

The "punch dot" was where they said it was suppose to be and the ramp has been polished. Now all I have to do is find some ammo that the LCP users haven't found :) and head for the range. So those of you that sent in after I did - the "ckeck" is in the mail.

I have moaned about having to wait 17 weeks to get my PPK back, well today I got to take it to the range. This is a great little pistol, it goes bang when you ask and it is accurate.
I bought this pistol for my wife but she found the slide too hard to rack so I bought her a Bersa, I inherited the PPK, lucky me. I had not had the opportunity to put a number of rounds through this pistol until today, it was fun. Thank S&W.

same here

We did the same thing... I've learned when shopping for her we make sure she racks the slide and pulls the trigger. She can't even pull the trigger on the ppk...

Now that I have decided to get myself a PPK, I called one of my local dealers today. They said that they don't currently have any and are expecting them any day; the sent their stock in to have them upgraded/repaired and also are awaiting their return. My question is, did S&W also polish the feed ramp on pistols returned to have the decocker upgrade; it seemed like a lot of people reported having this done automatically as well which also makes me wonder if that wasn't a problem too.

I don't see how--mine fed fine before. I figured it was just something nice that they did extra since it was there for awhile.
