Just tried some PPU brand .30-06 150 grain FMJ Military Ball style ammo today from a Garand and was very impressed! The ammo was very accurate, consistent, and there were no failures from 104 rounds fired today. It was heat annealed, water proofed and truly shot as well as the LCA surplus stuff from the CMP available in the past. Very high quality ammo from what I saw today!
I just got .30-06 Dies to reload it (someone gave them to me) but am doubting weather or not it even pays for me to do so. The Serbian PPU ammo was fairly reasonable and it might cost the same or more to actually reload it, especially since I have fellow Club members that pay me a dime a fired case to buy them from me. Winds up that it runs 59 cents per Factory round - not too bad these days.
Just wanted to put the word out on my experience with it today as I know many here have Garands. By the way, the PPU .30-06 mimics LCA USGI spec's.
