Folks, I could use some prayers for my family and me.

My first wife, the mother of my kids, died at 81 this morning in Rockford, Illinois. She had been receiving chemotherapy following cancer surgery and seemed to be doing well. But she couldn't tolerate the final round, and everything just shut down. She was terribly bipolar, depressive type, and had no real quality of life despite the best efforts of my daughter, with whom she lived. She is better off, and the kids and I know that, but it's still a wrench. She deserved a better husband than I was to her, and we divorced in 1974 because I wasn't.

I'm physically unable to travel; but current plans call for her to be cremated, and then to hold a memorial service here, in the church she attended for many years.

Also my sister was hospitalized last night, after ten hours in the ER, with an infection from a leg injury that they believe has entered her bloodstream. She is on very high-octane IV antibiotics. It's dicey because of her other health problems. To my great frustration, she refuses to let me visit her because the hospital is full of patients with a non-flu but flu-like respiratory illness that's rampaging here. It tends to morph rapidly into pneumonia. She knows my primary doc has said something like that could be a death sentence for me, and she says if I try to visit her she will kick my butt. She means it.

It's been a tough day.

I could use a lot of prayers for her and for my kids and grandkids, and some for me would be great as well.

Thanks.

You have my prayers for you and your family.

Your sister is correct. Yes that bug (I call it the creeping crud as that's what similar was called in the past) is running rampant. It hit this area right around Christmas. I'm slowly recovering from it. No hospitalization but two doctor visits and they were packed with cases of it. Stay out of public places as much as possible and wash your hands a lot when you do.

Prayers sent.

Bad things happen in bunches it’s a test of our will, it makes us stronger. I look for a family member to talk with, there all gone I’m the elder now.

Prayers for you and your family to deal with the loss of your ex-wife/mother of your children and also for your sister. God has a plan for all of us; just we don't understand what it is sometimes.

I was corresponding with my daughter this evening; they put her husband's 5 year old nephew to rest today. And I remarked to her that God, in His holy and infinite wisdom, had their long haul truck break down and need several days of work done on it just at the time that the Lord took Kadin back to him. So when his brother needed his support the most, my son-in-law wasn't halfway across the country and not able to go and help them out with all the arrangements. The breakdown of their truck at that time was just too dadgummed tidy to be the work of coincidence.

Prayers......

Prayers for you and your family. Special prayers for your sister. Listen to her because there are enough problems for you right now and this threat of respiratory ailments that suddenly turn serious is real and you have family that needs you. Prayers also for your first wife, since she undoubtedly suffered much in her life.
