Latest Update
I just received a phone call from the Hepatology Department at the University of Colorado. I was shocked to learn that I am not being put on the transplant list. From what they said, my A1C was too high, and at 8cm., my tumors are too big. They said I need to get my diabetes under control. My glucose reading this morning was 313. All I've had for the past 3 days is diet green tea with 0% sugar and 0% carbs, and Glucerna. I'm too sick and nauseaous to eat anything, yet my blood sugar level rarely gets below 300. My Primary Care Physician says it's because my liver isn't working. They also said that I need to loose weight. The nutritionist down there said that I needed to MAINTAIN my weight. I weighed 235 down in Denver, and have weighed 235-245 for the past 30 years. They also want me to come back down in a few months for a heart catherization to see if there is any vascular disease or valve damage from the diabetes. Yeah. Like that one's really gonna happen. I've wasted enough time and money, pain and aggrivation going down there the first time. Unless they call and say they've changed their minds and they have a liver WAITING for me, they can wait for hell to freeze over to see me again. I guess the answer to my prayers is NO! -Ed.
