I want to swap my original post war K22
hammer for a target hammer. Ive fitted and replaced the trigger with a .312 smooth trigger that feels much better when shooting. The replacement
hammer is the same thickness by dial caliper measurement as the original one in the gun.
I changed out the hammers , swapping all the parts..
It functions properly except the Target Hammer doesn't hit the firing pin properly to ignight the 22 shells. You can feel an improper fitting as the hammer settles the frame right before it hits the FP.
In my included picture, I believe either or both of the 2 points I marked on the top target hammer need
to be trimmed back to allow the hammer to ignight/smack the Frame FP Correctly
My question is for experienced members who've done this K22 hammer swap their advice on which
hammer points indicated ( 1&2) need to be filed back for proper ignition if that makes sense..
If you've had experience on this work please advise me about it.
Picture of Smith and hammer shown below.
Thanks very much for your advice and input.
