Price and Scope for 15-22

Hi. I just got my 15-22 for 499 plus tax total 543. It is a NY compliant version the same exact gun but a pinned stock and a 10 round mag in NY. DID I PAY TO MUCH?
Second i need a nice scope i really want one with a laser or maybe a red dot one. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

What you paid is a little high IMO. But that really depends on the availability in your area. $499 is the suggested retail. I've seen some go for as little as $399, but most seem to be in the $425 - $470 range. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

yea its NY and most places dont have them not to mention i waited 2 months for this gun and really dont care about the price i was just wondering. Also i didnt ask the guy for a deal but i prob could have. If the suggested msrp is 499 what do u think the dealer is making

Don't feel bad, I paid the same price for my gun here in NC only because I wanted one for Christmas and everyone was running out of them.. Even though a buddy of mine got his at a gun show for $405 the next week.

As far as a scope, I too am currently looking for a good Varmint scope.. Something in the 3-9X-40 or so range.

The BSA Sweet 22 Scope looks good, but I don't really know anything about them, Kinda Pricey though..

i got a step down model of the Centerpoint 4-16x40, but it looks good and smaller, so it won't look awkward on the gun.

I decided to get the high powered one simply because I didn't have any extra scope rings laying around the house. The lower powered one came with dovetail rings and I had no use for those.

i got a step down model of the Centerpoint 4-16x40, but it looks good and smaller, so it won't look awkward on the gun.

Both suprisingly good scopes for the money. I have read that it is a good idea to get better rings for them.

Your price was close to Maryland prices! I paid $489.00 plus tax.

Primary Arms.com has some knock off red dots which are getting good reviews on AR15.com.

I put a Primary Arms M4 Style Red Dot on mine. It cost $89.00 plus shipping. Have been very satisfied with the scope, seems to be very solid. Easy to mount and zero in.

Primary Arms 4X Compact

Ordered over weekend. Arrived today (Wed). I had heard Primary Arms is quick shipping-- it's true.

Finish: Not all that impressed. Body housing has kind of cast imperfect finish.

Fit: Sits low. Only about .5 inch above rail. Difficult for me to get low enough to properly see thru. Maybe a YHM .5 inch riser would be the way to go.

It has three rail thingies Not sure what good they are... but they're removable.

Works: The reticle is very fine (kinda like some of the ACOGs). The reticle has no detectable cant. When illuminated, the reticle stays sharp and fine. The focus ring works great. There is no distortion that I can detect. The scope is clear and light is on par with most cheap optics, maybe a little better than some.

For those with Sig522... the scope height is absolutely perfect (for me anyway) with Sig's lowered stock position. That's where this scope is going.

I took some pics. I found it near impossible to get my camera on the reticle but I got one shot... kinda sorta.

Dude! If I had that scope I'd bolt my carry handles to each side of it, and put another scope on top! Like a "Long range scope" and a "short range scope"

There's an idea. Maybe I'll put my SightMark holosight on the top rail. I'll hopelessly keep cranking on the elevation adjustment until the hex nut strips. (Just teasing Brett248.)

Got mine for 400 tax included. I live in Kentucky so mine has the 25 round clip and adjustable stock. Also has the flash suppressor on the front.

Range Report:


I think I understand why these scopes only last a couple days in stock. The micro-fine T reticle is a delight for bullseye target shooting and the etching is great for all but dim lighting conditions where you can then illuminate the reticle. For faster target acquisition like shooting at jumping cans you can use the larger/wider lower vertical bar tip.... and the FOV 42' @ 100yds is plenty to see where that can jumped to. The scope sighted quickly, firm and consistent click adjustment, and stayed zeroed thru 550 rounds. Not bad for a dime store optic...

When this scope comes back in stock will order another.

Found the NcStar Reflex Sight (D4B) on Amazon for $33.22 shipped. Seems like a good deal from cursory searching, what do you guys think?
