I'm sure the Kernel will love that you posted a pic of the end label with the S-Spec and serial number. He keeps a database of serials and S-Specs and such. Looks like it was shipped on 8/25/83 FYI, if I remember how the S-Spec is read correctly.

It looks like yours should be sent in for the M fix. The firing pin bushing looks deformed.

Your new gun has S&W's old style trigger over-travel stop. It's an interesting feature, but you have to take the side plate off to adjust it.

Interesting. Upon further investigation the top sideplate screw is missing as well. I'll let S&W know about the problem and see what they can do. Hopefully there are still nickel screws around for this.
