Stopped at Gander in Avon, Ohio today. Only 2 other people in there. Once I looked at there ammo and gun prices I see why. They had about 15 boxes of 338 R.U.M. Remington Cor-Lokt $99.95 A BOX. HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wolf and Brown Bear 9mm $15 which aint to bad by todays standards. PMC bronze 223 at $14.95 a box. I guess I;ll stick to my local store, PMC bronze 223 is still only $8 a box.

I'm surprised Gander Mountain doesn't get sued for the sign they hang on their stores claiming always the lowest prices. They are so overpriced I'm shocked they don't go under.

Someone I know went to out local GM a few days ago looking for 40 S&W ammo. He said the only 40 ammo they had was Black Hills JHP ammo. I asked what was wrong with Black Hills and he said nothing except GM was charging $50 for a box of 50!!! C'mon now, $50 for 40 S&W, ridiculous!! I guess it's no more ridiculous than the $48 they are charging for a box of Remington .38 Special +P LSWC/HP ammo.

i recently saw 460 magnum (20 rounds)at gander mountain for $99.00 $104.00 with tax....over five bucks every time you squeeze the trigger...

glad i reload

This is really starting to get out of hand!!!!!!!!

Gander Mountain has lost all my business due to their pricing policies on ammo. Remington 9MM JHP were going for $60 a box here as well. I will not buy my camping, fishing, or hunting supplies from them, too many other retailers out there trying to what is right and taking care of their customers the best they can in these difficult times instead of putting the screws to the public.

I picked up two boxes of .38special at gander mtn. last night for something like $38 after tax. They were $19.99 each and I got 10% off. I didn't NEED them, but I figured I'd pick them up. I just might get back into reloading...... They actually had a really good selection, overpriced of course. They had everything but 9mm.

I've had a raincheck for over 7 months for 9mm Wolf @ 8.99 a boxand every time I stop they don't have it.I even spoke to the store manager who was suppost to make a phone call when they have it still no contact. In the mean time I scored some Blazer Brass at Wally World.

Our local GM here in central TX charges 59.99 for Remington .38 Special +P LSWC/HP. They also had Win Super X
357 Mag 125gr JHP for ONLY 69.99.

My local GM is the only store of its kind around here (50 miles or so), so they can't help themselves but to price gouge.

Why do stores price gouge? Stores don't; scum bags do.

Ok, my crying is done; I'll go home now.

GM is horrible as noted on ammo cost but unfortunately they were assisted by the demise[for the most part] of the Sportsman's Warehouse chain. While not as large store count wise it did offer competition in some markets against GM.

Around here it seems like Gander adds their stores where there are no decent gun stores to compete with, I know they added one in the town where I go to college and they are pretty much the only game in town but they haven't added one in Owensboro which is a larger town but Owensboro has 3 good gun dealers that typically beat wal-marts prices on ammo.

I really think that Gander targets markets where they are the only game in town so that they can overcharge.

Seems to be a pattern. GM at West Palm Beach, Florida had FMJ Remington .380 at $49.99 / 50. WWB 165 FMJ.40S&W and 115 FMJ 9mm was the same for 50. Wasn't a whole bunch of any of them on the shelf.

At least GM is consistent. They are over charging across the whole country, not just in my area. They will get theirs in the end. Just like "Cheaper Than dirt", buyers will remember who screwed them when times were bad and not buy from them when things get better.

I'm with ArchAngelCD we all need to remember who screwed us in these tuff times. My local sporting goods store (Sportsmans Den) in Shelby, Oh has raised prices slightly over the last 6 months. They are still having problems getting some things but do not gouge people. Last week I payed $34.95 for winchester primers, yea its up but still not the $60 plus other people are trying to get. Just my IIC !

here in MN they used to be a Sportsmans Warehouse a few miles away to keep them honest - it closed and up up and away

Well, I don't know. CTD has been screwing people for years and they keep going back for more.
